Berkley Submersible LED Fishing Light - opening pics
« on: Dec 01, 2011, 12:30 PM »
I had $20 bonus credit in my Amazon account from a previous purchase, and picked up a couple submersible LED fishing lights. These are the Berkley Submersible LED Fishing Light, and the build quality is pretty good for the price (considering it came with batteries too). They were about $13 each at the time (couple weeks ago).

It has 6 green LEDs, 3 pointing up and 3 pointing down in the clear area - and there is a reflector to help refract the light from the LEDs. They have a clip at the bottom to attach a weight.  I am anxious to give these things a try.  :)

They seem pretty bright and the reflector does a good job dispersing the light. Here are some pics.

Can you tel me how they are supposed to work? By attracting bait fish? Or game fish?

they start by attracting micro organisms which in turn attracts the bait fish, then in turn the game fish.  It's Kinda like starting a food chain right in front of you.

Gotcha. My ex's uncle used to use a light, and that's kind of how I thought they worked. Just might have to get one or two. Thanks!

Like he said. Everything I read, indicates that green is the most effective light in attracting plankton, which then attracts the bait fish, which would then attract game fish.

These are my first submersible lights, so I hope they do the trick. I have only night ice-fished twice, and did not do too well - only caught a few fish; I personally thought I was just lucky with those few fish. And I haven't needed them during the day (yet).

Are these the same ones they sell in Cabelas in the saltwater section for sailfish?

i wouldnt think so, these are really small, bout the size of a cheapo flashlight, even a bit smaller.  i'd think the sailfish ones are a bit larger.

anytime man, you'd prob do the same for me...oh and b4 i forget, they also have a similar one for $12 and change, but you need a battery for it, guessing a motorcycle battery would work, smallest one i can think of
