New Clam Jig Box
« on: Nov 05, 2009, 04:07 PM »
I bought a couple of these sight unseen from Reeds sports. When i first got them i was a little disappointed at the size of the box (smaller then expected). But once i started loading them up, i feel in love with it. great product, seems sturdy and holds lots of micro jigs in both the foam and snap compartments.

I would hope they would look at adding a larger size as the snap compartments would hold plastics if they where larger.

Anyone else buy one of these?

I bought 2 a few weeks ago and like them. I put all my fiskas in them. They will fit right inside my chest pocket.  I put plastics in the little compartments.  I need to get 2 more  ;D

See you on the frozen pond.......Mike

Junky, can you post some pics of them?  I'm on my iPhone, & don't have the patience to look at Reeds website for them.  Thanks.  Been working 7 days a week, & iPhone is my only source for internet!  No WiFi to steal here! :'(

I thought I wasn't going to like it when I first saw it but bought one anyways figuring if I didnt like it I would still use it anyways. After I loaded it up I really started to like it. Its nice jig box that works really good for small jigs. Larger bodied jigs don't fit as well in it.

Thanks!
It looks like the same setup as Frabil has on their flyboxes.  Is that the only size they have?

as far as I know..yes..it only comes in one size. It is good for micro jigs, jamin, marmish, wolfram...but anything much larger takes up to much room.

I looked at these & did not purchase one ,instead i bought my third Bug Luggage to complete my set .Some of my jigs are $$ & don t want my jigs bouncing around against other jigs chipping the paint .Check out the Bug Luggage they have indiviual snap in slots for each jig & the best thing is they have a Life time warranty & made in USA 8)!

I bought one and I like it a lot. I also took some similar boxes that I had for flyfishing and glued some foam on one side and it pretty much is the same thing. I'll try to post a pic soon.

If you want a good box that will keep things separated and secure look at the Rose Creek Ice Jig boxes !
You wont find a better box for keeping jigs where they belong and not chipping painted jig heads .

Here's the box I made. I found these on clearance for a buck a piece. The box is only 2"x3" but it should work for jigs and on the go fishing, besides I have 3 of them.

Thorne Brothers has them .
You can fill the box with jigs and turn it upside down and they all stay in place without spilling them all over .

Bug luggage may hold the jigs better BUT: Ijust bought one /filled it with jigs/ used it one time/dropped it in the yard & the hinge broke.....I don't remember reading where it said you can throw them around????......May have gotten a deffective one; but seems as though it should have survived a 2.5ft. drop.....Gonna return it & buy something different FOR SURE......Probably get another flambeau.( was pleased w/ it; TRIED to save a buck :P)....Oh Well.......Lou

Which blue ribbon boxes do you guys use?

This

I was looking at the first one, but it is a little spendy.

a little spendy thatfly box is $30, there are some guys on this site who think $30 is too much for a rod!

The lower end blue ribbon looks very close to the clam box, but the clam box is half the price and may last longer as it has slits in the foam so you are not sonstantly peircing it.

Thanks for the pics melbs.  I found the medium one on gander mountain's website for $15 with free shipping.  I'll give it a try and see how much of my arsenal will fit in it.

Maybe I'll buy a 2nd one if I like it to keep differey jig types.
