Hey called Boyd State Park Ranger today and asked about the beer thing. He said YES they are now allowing full strength beer in the State Parks.

I hit Chatfield this evening.  The ice was plenty thick out there (check out video), and has actually grown a bit.  I was honestly surprised.  The thin layer of snow has insulated it very well the past couple days, it wasn't even wet on top.  This gives me hope that Crack will be the same, and we'll be fine for tomorrow's festivities!

Crazy line at the East entrance right now. I've been in it for about 15 minutes and it looks like I still have another 15 to 30 to go. Wish I didn't have to buy a pass. I'm not used to waiting in line to go ice fishing

Lol! It wasn't on purpose, I assure you, but it has become a "signature" look of sorts, especially when I have my hunter orange jacket on.  You can't miss me on the ice, and you definitely won't lose me!    My son calls me an upside-down, neon carrot, LMAO! 

When I was looking for some waterproof pants for ice fishing ~4 years ago, "Sniagrab" was going on at the Sports Authority location on Wadsworth/Bowles near my house, and they had a ton of ski pants for cheap leftover by January.  They had a whole bunch of these LOUD neon green, waterproof North Face pants, and the XXL size I could wear over my other clothes were something dirt cheap like $20, so I bought a pair.  Wish I had bought 2 or 3 pairs now looking back on it.    One of these days I might actually buy some real fishing bibs...

Hey guys !! I wish I wasn’t stuck in Illinois I would’ve loved to have been there for sure !! The son decided to go trout fishing instead but I bet once he sees these pics he’ll be sorry he didn’t make it !! Looks to have been an awesome event for sure great job everyone !
