homemade transducer arm ideas?

(1/1)

DANMAN:
bought a used vexilar fl8se

carry case doesnt fit any commercially arms

just need two 4” segments. maybe 1/4 thick and 1.25 wide

plus a 1/2” hole for transducer ball

any tips what material or how to cut

hardwater diehard:
Depends on what case you have ..there should be a 1/4 20 threaded insert to accommodate a a 1/4 20 eye bolt . Vexilar rod holder paired with the Vexilar transducer arm is hard to beat .

If this would be for the Genz (blue) box, I make and have kits available if you are interested. My kits do fit the blue box without doing any modifications or drilling any holes.

I 3D print mine out of PETG, but UHMW would work well too, could use a cutting board for material, would be the right thickness.

Here's a pic, if it's any help. If you pick up those holes on the gimble mount and use those to mount your arm, you can get enough length to do it all in one piece.  I've seen aluminum, and wood versions too, but I'd think you could shape a cutting board pretty easily with a jig saw and dremmel.

I know this is on a Marcum, but you get the idea.  Try harbor freight for cheap wrenches and bolt them together….

I heated the box end with a torch and tapped it tighter on a vise and smoothed out any sharp edges.

Good luck
