Title: PSA -- ALWAYS spud your way around!
Post by: njsquatch on Jan 17, 2022, 12:55 PM
The pics below demonstrate why you need to always always always spud your way around until you identify a safe area to fish.

Throughout the day over 100 swans, geese and ducks were in this hole. The surrounding ice was 5"! So when this hole eventually ices over it will be significantly thinner than the surrounding ice.

Be safe!

Good advice. A lot of what I saw while prospecting before the storm was really uneven. Between the hard blow and precipitation things will certainly be iffy, especially along the edges. Be safe out there...
