Want to get into some more perch fishing
« on: Dec 18, 2011, 03:47 PM »
So I have always been a pike fisherman in the winter months but this year I want to get into the perch a little more. I have purchased a few different types of baits to try out and was looking for any advice that I could get. I got a few Swedish pimples, fiskas, buckshot spoons, and little jig head hooks. Is live bait added to any of these baits? If so what should be used? Do you fish any of them by themselves and just jig them? My plan is to get into it a little more each trip especially when the tip-up action is slow. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A live minnow hooked just under the dorsal with a gumball jig works well.  Hooked to any jig heavy enough will work well.  Just make sure the minnow can have some action, but not enough to take the jig wherever it wants.

Pimples,Hali's,diamond jigs, small crappi tube jigs.Tiped with maggots and or eye's work well for perch.
I've used about every kind of jig made and I go back to these for most consisten catches.
