Anyone been out to colchester pond recently
« on: Mar 24, 2017, 10:40 AM »
Was out there 2 weeks ago and it was getting a little thin but still fishable. Anyone been out there in the past week? with these cold temps I'm hoping for one last day out!

Made it out to the pond yesterday. Almost 1ft of decent ice out there if anyone was wondering!

Perch bait- a small minnow that can have big results in the ice fishing game.  :icefish:

The perch are infested, yes, But the pond itself is beautiful and a pleasure to fish!

???

No sense in arguing, I agree PB it's an under appreciated fishery and I always have fun there. The perch may be wormy but you can usually have most of the pond to yourself and there's no shortage of northerns. I'll be throwing streamers from my canoe after ice out.

At least the more people who think that Colchester Pond is a smuck hole with wormy fish, the more big pike there will be.  ;)
I've only fished there a handful of times and have only caught a couple perch, a monster smallie, and a bullhead on a drop shot. I can never seem to find any pike. Any tips on where to go for spring/summer time northerns? Thanks.

Usually use small perch and pumpkinseeds as bait on a bobber. I only catch them consistently through the ice, but will certainly get the canoe out there this year. The northwest end is the deepest and its full of dink perch right now. Seems the pike are following them into the deeper water
