Vexilar Battery
« on: Dec 04, 2005, 04:23 PM »
How many years are you guys getting out of your vexilar batteries? Mine is going on Three Years and seems to be fine for another, I get it out every 2 or 3 months and charge it to keep it hot in the off season. Just curious about how long the rest of you are getting?

I bought my first vex in 1995 and it has been used every year since I bought it and I am still using the original battery. ;D ;D I have never had any problems with my vex`s. Tight lines   Steve  ::) ::)

Third year for my original too and it seems fine. I charge it maybe 3 times in between seasons. Didn't Gander Mountain have replacement batteries last year for like 20 bucks?

Hey Chapstick Charlie, Gander Mountain does have them for around 20 bucks a couple
buddies of mine both got new batteries last year there. Mine is 4 years old and works fine and I think one of theirs was around 5 or 6 years old.

Damn Greg , I was just out there tonight. I would have picked up a spare. Speaking of Gander Mountain, I checked the ice line wall and they do not have any yellow hi - vis line in 3# test. Does everyone use that pound test or am I just the unluckiest guy around?

I use yellow and blue line but I go for the 2lb stuff. I know this stuff goes first at Gander Mountain. Which one did you go to Charlie?

I only got 2 seasons from my original battery, but I didn't charge it in the off season, and would drain it before I charged during the season.  Last year I went to my buddy that owns an Interstate battery dealership in Valpo, and he hooked me up with a double sized battery... It's too wide to fit in the propaks I think, but it holds a charge twice as long as the normal batteries... I am going to try and take better care of this one and see how long it will last me.
