Ice Anchors Kit from Clam Corp
« on: Oct 28, 2008, 09:44 PM »
Anyone buy and use the ice anchor kit from Clam Corp? If so, are the spikes easy to get in to the ice? I have a pointed ice anchor that came with my sled. But it isn't the easiest to get into the ice. I keep looking for Ice screws for climbing to use to anchor my shanty. They are not cheap though.

I bought a set last winter and they work great. They have nice big threads and seem to catch the ice very nicely and turn in with minimal effort.

They out perform the cheapie anchors hands down and don't cost much more.

These aren't exactly cheap (about three times the price of Clam anchors), but for self tapping ease of screwing into the ice they are the best I've ever tried.  Truly quick and easy to do one handed.

Im also a fan, it's hard when clam puts out new gear as some of there stuff is overpriced, but sometimes they get it right and the anchors are one of those times..worth every penny

Picked some up on sale a couple years ago but never put them on the sled yet.

Go to this sight and take a look at these anchors. I thank for the price that they cant be beat. 60mph wind and the shack held.
Take a kid fishing, they make great pack mules.
Put the big ones back for another day eat the small ones.
