Leaking minn-o-life
« on: Nov 12, 2017, 09:06 PM »
Hey all, I just pulled my frabill minn-o-life out of the garage after not using it the past couple years (been using regular buckets in the summer). I figured since I'm going to start ice fishing this year, I'd grab the one thing I have that's insulated.

I've found that it appears the gasket on it is hosed. It's formed to the lip that it's supposed to seal against which allows it to leak water all over the place. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to seal this back up? I've thought about getting some flat rubber tape or something and going around the lip of the lid, but is it possible to rejuvenate the existing gasket somehow?

I did that a couple weeks ago when I first noticed it and never got a response. I'll do it again, but that's why I'm starting to look for alternatives.

Oh. That can be very frustrating.    Hm?   They try for a 24 hour turn around, oops.

Maybe call them:   Monday - Friday
                             8:00 am - 5:00 pm   Time zone ??
                             800-226-9868

A farm store or RV place may have some soft molding.

Good luck.

Is there any way you could run a smooth bead of RTV silicone caulk around the lid and let it let it fully cure to make a new gasket?

A plain gasket would be better than using glue that could kill your bait.

Wouldn't it off gas enough in 48-72 hours that I wouldn't have to worry about it?

I think they make aquarium silicone, that would be better.

That's an excellent idea. If I don't get anywhere with Frabill, I'll go grab some of that.
