Otter T600 Cottage!
« on: Jan 20, 2014, 04:52 PM »
Guys I scored an incredible Otter Wild 1 with Travel Cover that came with a brand new T600 Frame and Cover!  I'm so excited it get it on the ice.  I'd love to get an XT1200 cover for full thermal, but for what I paid I'm super happy to use it with me and my brother in law when I don't want to deal with my BigFoot!

Congrats!! I love my t600 lodge. I had diamond quilt while poly sewn into mine, cause I wanted the bench seat.

ASAT - Can you explain or show pics?  I'd love to convert to a thermal, and I'd assume that helps with the "pinhole" that  wasn't addressed until the XT650?

Went to Joann's fabric and bought their white diamond poly fill quilt fabric. Hired woman to sew it in. She got all of it done but the door wall, ran out of time before ice hit. Needs finished. Much warmer and thicker shelter, then the factory fully insulated ones IMO, and I get an otter lodge w a bench seat. Must have the bench, I won't part w it. It's a couch, chair, or a work bench to set gear on.

which big foot? I was looking at the xl 4000t.  I am looking for a 4 man tent for my kid and I and a buddy and his kid. Have an amish hut now but too small for me and the 5 year old.

The big plus for the BigFoot is obviously the weight, at 35 lbs you get a ton of space.  It sets up in minutes.

In the wind it can be a pain but I normally use 4 to 8, 4" Drywall screws to anchor it down.

There is no winning with any ice shanty all have pros and cons is what I've realized over the years.

I had it down to Eskimo 949i and that clam. Otter I'd love but pricey and don't wanna drag that heavy of a hut.

Not sure if they have improved the hubs on the Eskimo, but that is why I went with the Clam.   The zipper pulls are a joke but the hubs are great.

I think you're right, the Cottage is light enough for me to load into my 4Runner and is made very well.  Can't say the same for my old Nanook that I sold within 1 week of buying.

A Lodge would be big enough for 2 and a kid for sure with a bench seat.  Something to consider.

I love my Otter Lodge with the black camo. I have fished three guys out it. It is a little heavy to pull but I.m just finishing up my smitty sled for it. I agree once you go Otter you will never look back.
