The jet sled ain't touching the ice this year! (conduit mod)

Well the bottom is starting to wear and the sitting hieght is too low, so, time for a mod. Slapped together this conduit frame which now just await a set of skis. Working on finding some.

Sweet! Just found a deal on 3 sets of skis. Picking them up tomorrow morning. I am going to have to buy more conduit. The new Clam Big Foot needs a sled. I am sure my 11yr old can pull it around with a proper sled.

I weld everthing. I also have a conduit bender, bought because of the addiction. I use 1/2" conduit.

As with most things in life, bigger is better.  You want lots of float if you are going to be pulling it through the snow. I wouldn't even bother with the thinner cross country/tele skies (I think that is what that far pair is).

Check out the Smitty Sled, just search for it on Iceshanty.  Also RG posted a simple mod with conduit that looks like it will work very well.

The pic is deceaving. They are all downhill skis of about the same width. I was working right along today until I ran out of welding wire. I didn't feel like running out and getting some. I had already been to the hardware store once today. I am very pleased at how it is coming together. Perfect hieght(18") for sitting.

Looking good Mud. I just built a Smitty sled to haul my new Kenai flip over or the Clam 2000.  I still need to add the eyebolts and some other hardware and it'll be ready.

I used a variation of the Smitty Sled to get the tub off the ice.  Not much in the way of looks, but they work as I used the same theme on another sled a few years ago.  I've cut the length of the skis down since I took this pic.
