I just purchased the Jiffy 3hp 10 inch. Last year I was useing an 8 inch with tipups and had 5 of 6 spools freeze into the side of the hole. Almost impossible to chip out. I broke 5 of the plastic spools. These tipups were set out all day in about +10 degree temps. Since the 8 inch holes lost about 2 inches during the day due to refreezing and that there are 40+ pound pike in these waters, it is the 10 inch for me.
8" Jiffy... works great most of the time. Bought an manual 8" Eskimo Barracuda for backup, maybe it was defective but out of the box it couldn't cut through butter. Anybody have any suggestions for a manual backup?
