my favorite thing about ice fishing is that all forms of water are locked up and i still get to wet a line, i get to maybe enjoy the scenory, i might be able to get away from lifes hassels for a few hours, i might be able to drink a few beers, i might even catch fish, but all in all i get to fish; being able to fish if wanted 365 days a year if i need to is what keeps me interested

Gives me a reason to love and appreciate the cold bitter temps when most folks are complaining about the weather in Indiana.

As soon as you hit the ice nothing else matters, the ice dosent care. I have caught fish on my old straight pole with the 2 pegs to wind the line up on and a very expensive StCroix set up you know what the feeling was the same watching a fish come thru the hole .....BLISS

I started this, but I didn't tell why I like the one thing, sounds nuts, but I like the sounds the ice makes. Sounds like a different world, out on the ice.  Jerry

they are ellusive - stick to it, I got my 1st ice walleye a few weeks ago...love it!!

you'll get one, a dry line will never be tight - keep on it!

I agree with others that said the sounds of being out on the frozen lake...really unique, I love it!

The anticipation of it all............ of the ice freezing to my bibs, of the bite, of the catch, of the warm shack, of the copenhagen burning on my Mr Heater and of the cold bevy in my hand.

Its ALL about the propane!! ;D  LOL
I love being on the lake and looking down into the aqaurium and see that big pike stalk your bait, then come and nail it!!!

Been icefishing on the lake since i was 8, never had anyone go with me.  Just take over an old hole and fish.  Yeah I wasn't suppervised when I was a kid, we lived on the lake so I would just grab my ice pole and go!!!

Getting out in the type of weather that the majority of people wouldn't think of going out in.
Surviving, thriving and being comfortable in inhospitable situations.
Love everything about it.

I like it because it reminds me of when I was younger and didn't have a boat to get to the "good" fishing spots.... It's simplistic compared to getting the boat launched and fishing open water.

Me and my fishing buddy were just talking about this the other day and for me I believe it to be walking/driving on water something you aren't supposed to be able to do. There are so many things though it is hard to put my finger on one.
