Does anyone know the park manager?  I wonder how we could convince them to open up the docks for fishing.  The ice has been junk for the last 2 seasons and there's no reason they shouldn't allow fishing from the docks.  Sister parks Goddard and Pymatuning  allow it on their docks in the winter season.

When I was up there this weekend I said the same thing to my brother that I wondered why they didn't allow dock fishing?  That's a great question and I'll try to look into that even if it's a hard no.  If I make any progress I'll post it.

They can even be stingy towards late season boat fisherman when there is nothing docked there. Always found it a bit ridiculous.

Mo, how's it going brother?  Good to hear from you...

As far as the docks, I find it hard to believe that there are mounds of treasure lying around the Davis Hollow Marina, but nothing worth anything at Presque Isle, Wilhelm and Pymy.  To me, it just sounds like poor park management and a failure to open a valuable fishing resource to fishermen on a PUBLIC state owned tax payer paid for property.  It's not just Davis, but there's also the Crescent Bay docks.  There would be one on north shore and one on south shore then. Instead they build a 'fishing pier' in a section of the lake that is 5 foot of water.  Probably great if you want your kids to catch some dink blue gills, but not exactly useful for anglers.  Sorry if this sounds overly critical or cynical, but I just have a hard time understanding the logic behind keeping these resources closed from the fishing public.

in the winter ay pymatuning they close gates to some areas, they blocked off a  road to a old dirt launch which we used to get to the ice to fish down by the dam, why i dont know guys would go out on the point in spring and shore fish but no more. in ohio (pymatuning) the launch by duck and drake has a guardrail  blocking the launch, this is a good area to put your boat in when the bays r iced up. guess they dont care about anyone wanting to fish. THANK YOU PA AND OHIO

It was raining today.  High winds were kicking up waves on the open water and damaging ice edges.  The open pools under the 528 bridge are expanding.  The ice on Bear Run on the south side of 422 was opening up.  The good news is that the 14 day forecast looks fantastic if it holds true.  We'll be fishing Arthur soon if we can get these open pockets locked back up and get some cold nights.  The rain water on top of the ice should freeze hard and clear.  Cross your fingers.
