Title: Russian Hooks
Post by: hankthecrank on Nov 19, 2010, 01:52 PM
Does anybody have any idea where a person could buy the old style Russian Hooks that were made by Best Tackle of Canada. I have contacted the company twice and still have not got a reply from them. they told me they would send out an e-catalog, that was like Monday, called Wednesday, he said day or 2 now it's Friday. Anyway any help would be appreciated.

If you are talking about the hook soldered to a blade (fish shape) then I have seen them BPS in Ontario and Cdn Tire.  With Cdn Tire, it is a hit and miss as not all stores carry the same stock.  This is very frustrating.

I bought these Russian hooks in my local Walmart (Barrie, ON) on clearance for $0.97 each.

They was only 2 styles though and only in orange.

Hank they are/were made really close to me, and unless the company has changed hands I know the owner, it might take me a few weeks to figure it all out but keep at me by private message and I will do my best to find out if they are still available, and if so I will put you in touch with the right people.

I actually found and spoke with the owner of the company...but after the first e-catalogue I cannot raise him by telephone....6, yes I said 6!!! calls have gone unanswered, and emails have gone ignored. I have found an excellent substitute....buy a PHOEBE lure, remove the hook and put it on the other end, or solder a hook onto that "other end" paint in Art Best's(the original owner) favorite colors----red & white like the daredevle lures. Hey, I am not begging anybody to take my money, and if he does not want my business, let him sink! After all the economy is just BOOMING, right? ::)

can't WAIT for my new spoons to come. Charlie sent them from Canada, and if I can get a picture of his bead spoons, then you are definitely gonna see them! Watch out Perch!!!!!
