find an old propane tank and make a small one like i did. it will take up to a 10 in long log. just make sure u paint it with some good heat paint or Else it will rust i didn't paint mine and it rusted out if the off season so i had to use a wire brush clean it up good and paint it.

For those guys who have shacks this size..... 8x8 ON SKIS

How big of a trailer are you using to transport them to the lake?  Just a 2 place snowmobile trailer??  All I ever see in my area anymore is either converted campers or tip-down shacks or the drop-down axle type.... all of which have their own integrated "trailer."

I've never seen anyone unload or load one of these monstrosities, just wondering how long it takes and how much of a pain it is.

Nice shack though, I'm working on designing my own to build someday.  Probably not 8' wide though, I'm thinking 6x10 is where I want to go.

Anyone ever tried that bubble insulation?

My cousin built a shanty with it last year, a fairly big one, and used this bubble wrap type insulation stuff, and let me tell you, just running a little butane stove to cook lunch, our coats came off and the shanty heated up nicely for the afternoon. Its pretty cool stuff.

TIBS- i used a 2 place snowmobile trailer like u said. its not that bad is u have 3guys. 2 pick up the shanty and the other back the trailer under then move to the back of the shanty pick up and push. my shanty I'm guessing is about 550 maybe 600 lbs its heavy but this year i put it on an old camper trailer and ill pull it out and around with my yamaha rhino.

just tell your two buddies that their help was the cost of admission the whole season lol... and i bet someone could even rig up a wench system easy too.. you can get a fairly good winch for under 100 bucks and slap that sucker on the trailer and your set ... BTW- nice shack, keep us updated
