I have a ‘17 Ram 1500 with 275/60r20 tires. I need a new set of AT tires for it. I don’t pull much with it and my ice fishing equipment probably weighs around 350 lbs total. First question is what ply or load rating should I be looking at? I also would like some good recommendations as well. I am looking at the general grabber atx (8ply), Falken wildpeake at3w (4ply), Yokohama geo lander at (4 or 8 ply), or hankook dynapro atm. Mostly used for highway driving while also on gravel, and section lines. Looking for a good all around tire for dry, wet, snow and ice.
Thanks in advance

I bought the Falkens for my truck about a year ago, very happy with them, especially after two years on the crap tires my truck came with from the factory('17). The Falkens are economical and a good looking tire too.

What ply were the falkens you put on? Only come in a 4 ply in my size.

Falkens were sold out every place I called in the size I needed so I went with the general grabber atx that I’m having put on next week. I will post back after I have had them on awhile and give a review.

I've been pretty happy with the Cooper ST MAXX on my truck. Load range E.

ply rating translates to how rugged the tire is...an 8 or 10 ply tire is going to stand up to some abuse when driving over sharp objects or hitting larger bumps/pot holes. They have more carrying capacity. I've always ran load range E tires on my trucks

I've been seal happy with my Goodyear Duratracs. They are expensive but my last set lasted 50K miles. Load rating E for my truck.

BFG KO2s is what I have on my 2017 Ram now. Load range E, snow rated and upped the size to 275/65/20

I bought falken wildpeak in october of last year, very happy with them so far.

cooper AT3 4s for me, have had them on for 11 months like them so far

i'm on my second set and love em. great traction but quiet on the highway compared to the duratracs i had previously.

I get E-rated Michelin LTX AT2's on all my 1/2 ton trucks. They aren't cheap but they are an 80k mile tire and are great for towing my sled trailer and boat.

If you are really concerned about winter driving, I would recommend dedicated snow tires. For most pickups, you can get a cheap set of rims on Craigslist, and then you can run your summer tires further without having trouble in winter. The best snow tires have specific tread, softer rubber, and can have studs where I live.

I am finally going to give a review on my General Grabber ATX tires I put on my pickup last fall. I have been very happy with the traction I got with them this past winter. With that said we did not have much snow in my area but did have some slick roads. My mpg dropped by about 1 mpg which was expected. The road noise at highway speeds is not noticeable so far but they are still newer with little tread wear. Only complaint with these tires is that they throw rocks more than I like but probably should have been expected as well. Overall a really good tire.
