I use those pool noodles. Cut them to fit.   They are on or going on clearance now.

Exactly!!! Pretty similar to what I've got...plano gun case. That takedown shotgun case would be alot less bulky and easier to pack though. For the price of em you could get 4 cases compared to the $80 otter case!

I just want to know where I can get a couple for $20.00 bucks apiece? A quick google search shows them pushing $40.00 a piece.

However the price has gone up a bit. They are now $22.99. Also out of stock, but should be in soon.

I usually keep my rods in the truck so they don't get crushed.  A hard bodied gun case would be a good idea too.

I have a jet sled Jr. and drilled holes in the back "lip" so i can slide rods in.  works pretty good except on really bumpy rides.  imma find something i can slide in the holes this year to better secure them, but it works for me.  Havent broken 1 rod since i did that.

I also use the Plano gun case to store my rods. Model #1535 - Pillar Lock Take Down Gun Case. Dimensions are 36x10.75x4. I think I paid around $28 for it at Fleet Farm.

I use these cases. They come in a couple different lengths for longer and shorter rods.

I caught a fish once!

Where did you find these cases at? I have looked at a few different gander mtns and a bunch of different websites and haven't been able to find one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I use the clam rod lockers, they work well, i got a few last season and though they are not bullet proof, they do work.

Now if pike would stop slamming my gills jigs and snapping my rod tips on the ice, that would also decrease the number of broken rods.. 2 in the last 2 seasons

I've had two of them and broke both. The pvc broke on real cold days both times cause of my stupidity but luckily I only broke 1 rod which sucks but could of been a whole lot worse. I wish they would use thicker pvc like you see in plumbling instead of the thinner version thats in them. I think I might look for one of them gun cases when I go to farm and fleet next. That or bust out the sewing machine and get some new pvc.  :)

I also started using the plano take-down shotgun case last year, first ice season with NO broken rod tips.

I was using golf club dividers, they where a bit of a pain in the butt at times so i just tossed my rods in a bucket, bad mistake as the next time i was fishing 2 rods had broken tips,I may go back to the plastic sleeves or look for a cheap gun case.

For my UL rods, I simply like to snip the lure off so I don't have any line on the rod.  Since even a loosen drag sometimes the unwanted, unknown reel crank is the cause of the line tension and rod tip bend the culprit in the broken rod tip.
For more information read my MN nice journal
