Vexilar is an easy way to watch your hooks getting hit.

I use the Garmin striker 4 and it works well for the price. I have navionics downloaded on my phone for lake maps.

I took my Lowrance mark 5x off of my boat and mounted it to a plastic child's tool box. I put a battery in the tool box and all the wires are inside. The same original transducer can hang out the side and in the water.
Its what I had and works for me. It does have a ice fishing setting on the menu and can switch from live action to flasher.
Unfortunately its not in color.

I did the same thing with the Humminbird from my boat. I mounted it on a plastic ammo box from Harbor Freight and put the battery inside. I surrounded the battery with pieces of foam insulation to keep it from bouncing around. At first I used the transducer from the boat then I bought an ice-ducer. The screen has a few vertical graph modes and a round flasher mode.
