ATV flip rack
« on: Jan 06, 2018, 07:36 PM »
I’ve seen a few snowmobiles with a rear rack for hauling a one man flip. Anyone have the same setup for there ATV? Tired of bouncing my Kenai for miles towing it, would also be great in the back of the pickup.

I built one out of 2x4's I had laying around. Works great for my fishtrap. ;)

I have been searching also. Everybody's pictures are gone so it makes it difficult to search. I am thinking of trying to build a bottom frame out of aluminum angle and bolting it to my rear rack. Then have 2 pieces shooting down from the back and connecting them to the hitch area for support.

I'm just trying to figure out how to get my clam and my quad in my short bed.

The shappell rack is not being made anymore and I don't think I'll find one.

I hate having my shack sitting on the tailgate tied down there!

I added a hitch hauler to mine, I reversed how it mounts to that the rail is in the front and closer to the ATV. I can strap my Kenai in, load it in my truck or on the trailer, and down the road I go.

Rouser - how did this setup work.  Can't remember if it was this site or another site where guys were mentioning that the exhaust could melt the tub, or give issues with how close it sits to the muffler.

It worked well, no major complaints. My exhaust never even got the shack warm, there is probably a good foot of clearance between the exhaust and the rack. If I have a complaint it is that the shack blocks out my tail lights, I may weld an extension to elevate the rack and bring it inline with my rear ATV rack.

Thanks Bart - you have a great sled setup. I wold love to find a T570 for my son to ride and then add mods for ice fishing. I am not about to turn my Freeride into an ice fishing machine LOL

I'm still in the process of making my rack but I'm using an old ladder stand and bolting the standing portion to the back. My nanook will hang off a bit, but it'll work. Got the stand for $20, I couldn't justify paying what they want for an actual rack. Will post some pics once it's done.
Da Pack!

I run a rack like rouser does but I don’t turn mine around. I instead bought an extension for my hitch receiver to be able to get my Otter completely inside the rack and still clear my Monster Box. My outside runner under the tub with the hyfax fits inside the upper rail perfect. I usually don’t even strap it down when moving across the lake. My Otter Cottage Or Hideout both will fit in there perfect.

PICs please?  I've been dreaming about a rack to carry my Frabil Pro one-man for a couple years.  Got a Monster Box on the back now.  Hate bouncing that shelter around in tow.
