Local honey hole

Looks like the local spot is still safeish, thin at the entrance but decent ice after that, got to play around with the new fish finder and get into some nice crappies

I see you're pretty consistent with the whites. I can never find them through the ice. Good job.

Lots of drilling, lots of walking, lots of hours on the ice to find a few honey holes of white perch, I know of lakes where I can catch all summer and decent sized ones, but can't find the damm things on the ice, this place is the other way around, ice and I can get right on top of them every single day, but on the summer I haven't found a single school of them.
My lady will be happy for a while now, brought her out here today and she even got into some pretty good ones!
This is from today, need to give this place a rest now for a few weeks ;D

Never give it a rest I fished the same hole 52 day straight winter of 2020 and then fished another 36 days straight after ice out same spot every day caught my limit every single day and
If you sit around all day and do nothing your a bum, but if you sit in a boat all day or in a shanty and do nothing they call you a fisherman

Its part of the mystery. My go too is giant panfish when it comes to ice fishing. 17"+ crappie and 16"+ whites are my favorite. NH, CT, MA, ME and even RI all got them. Lot's of time on the ice and understanding what each fishery has for food is what helps dial the bite down. Structure, depth, time of day (or night) and ultimately having the right presentation when you find them is key. Eventually, you realize patterns that exist on every body of water. The bigger they are the harder it is to get them to eat. If you do it, you know what I mean. 1 tip i have is dont always go smaller when they dont want to chew.  ;)
Just add water.
