using 1 7/8 coupler for crank down wheel system
« on: Jan 21, 2014, 08:29 PM »
Wanted to get opinions on using a 1 7/8 trailer coupler for the hitching point of a crank down wheel system.  I would then weld a stub off the frame with a 1 7/8 ball welded to the stub.  I thought this would be easier to build and would make the crank up alignment much easier.
I am concerned about the pivoting aspect of using a ball and coupler.  Would this put to much stress on the pivot point.  I plan to use 2 1/2 for the pivot point.

its an idea but to be honest it doesn't seem like a safe option the hitches are really only suppose to handle the tongue weight, personaly if your lookin to aleviae the problem wit the springs not aligning when under load id recommend this
