Correct....you win ;D....Now I will let you see the full rescue we did last Friday ;D

After the machine is located on my Aqua-vu, we start drilling a big hole to get it out.

Notice the ice is thick enough for a few more weeks for sure ;D After the hole is done I put the camera back down and we use a meat hook to attach it to the front ski. Fish-slayer is holding the rope and we attach it to the ATV and winch it up.

Everyone crowds around the hole to see the red thing coming up...

Here is Roy the semi-proud owner of his reclaimed machine ;D

We take it back to his sons shop and after some tinkering for a few hours, it is running.

It was actually a fun time. We spotted the machine in 24 ft of water at about 11:30 am and the it was up before 2 pm.
After it was all over we marked the hole well with 2X4s and ribbons. Probably a good idea since these guys were running close by in an Ididarod qualifying event ;D

How long was it down there? That is pretty cool that you were able to get it out.

It went down mid December 2006. Had small amount of slime on some areas.

TGF,
What was the story w/ the initial dunking? Was it being ridden? What were the ice conditions/weather?

3 machines went out to their cabin about 37 miles away in mid Dec. The ice was 6 inches of solid when they left, but they did encounter some minor slush on way up. They visited their cabin, had some lunch after the fire was going. It had warmed up some since they left in am. Headed home in afternoon. Young fellow with them was driving a Bravo (lighter machine). He was told to stay with the pack on travelled previously trail but being young and wanting to take shortcuts...instead of travelling the old trail he cut across the bay and got stuck in slush. So Roy comes out on bigger Yamaha to give him a hand getting him unstuck. Roy stayed about 45 yards away from the Bravo and as soon as he stopped the back of his machine went under some. Roy jumped to the side some and went under as well as machine going down. Had a floater suit on so pulled himself onto ice and rolled towards shore. The young fella came over to help Roy and they broke into nearby cabin to get him warmed up. The one machine stayed on shore and didn't want to venture out there otherwise every machine would be out of commision. Once Roy was warmed and safe the other machine went back to home (which was only 3 miles away as they live on lake) to get more help to get Bravo.

No but I owed him for helping me get a moose out of a swamp once with his bigger boat (at least I felt I did, and he said it was no big deal) so was very happy to return the favour, which was lots of fun and no big deal ;D

Hope someone eother knew the shack owner or at least left him a message as to the circumstances why his shack was broke into.

Good story !  Terry

Yes Roy knew the owner and called him when he got back home. Then they went out and repaired the damage the next week ;D
