Fisherman Breaks Through the Ice
« on: Jan 15, 2019, 11:40 AM »
We all want to get out and enjoy the hard water but we need to realize that it hasn't been that cold for that long yet in NWI.

...and I get it, there are lots of factors and each pond is different but be smart. I have yet to see a bluegill worth a winter swim!

As someone in the same age bracket I am always leary of an ice bath for fear my old ticker may not survive the shock!
Article doesn't say if he was out by himself.  Wondering how first Fire/rescue were called?  Good outcome at least

Just plain stupid, even tho it was 4ft there. An inch of ice, and it was all Tee hee, thank the lord. People goin out on ice thats not safe, need rescued for goin in, should PAY for the cost of the rescue. For me, Stupidity is not news worthy...

Snow cover could literally be a killer this season. I fear we will hear a lot of bad news starting next week. Be SMART and don't be afraid to inform someone that walking around on ice you know is not good. My buddy did just that yesterday at the Sally. Might have saved he's life. Another step or two and he's is certain the young man would have got wet. He knew there is only a small area that is actual fishable.

A city councilman went through on a pond in dekalb county yesterday.
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work
