I saw an ugly stick jig rod the other day into dicks and was tempted to spend the $25, if only I didn't have two other jig poles already that get little use as it is. If my memory serves me correct it was medium or medium light weight, 28" and had the closed face shakespeare real with the trigger on it. I've never been a spinning reel guy anyway. However I was looking for a jig pole for smelts and ended up getting a "noodle action" HT pole. Anyone use one of these before? It seems ridiculously sensitive and I'm psyched to try it out.

But anyway I agree with the med-light action suggestion.

I've got 2 of them HT rods. Great for crappies and perch.
Looking forward to some "crappie" nights!

I got one in the garage that I use ocasionally for togue. It's been a while though. Braided dacron with a flouro leader. Talk about direct contact. Great for deep water. Just be sure to stretch out the leader to get rid of kinks and coils.
Looking forward to some "crappie" nights!

I don't jig much but I do have an old jig stick (make unknown) very lite action and it is good for 3 & 4 lbs ers. I think it is all in how you play them. I have a cup hook in one of my lakers I loop the line over it and use IT as a jig stick at times, works well. Anybody try handlining? I do it allot at Tilden with dead bait on bottom works great there.

I like the old jig stick for togue. Much better feeling on a stick.
Faster fishing for slabs with a rod.
I tried to post a photo of the sticks I make. I dragged it over here but couldn't get a paste after copying it?
Don't know if it is here.
