With the small snowfall we had last week the ice fishing bug has hit in full force. Auger is all tuned up, had a coquette style shack built for early ice and the tackle box has been organized with the ice lures. With all that out of the way its time to start thinking about touching up the permy. Does anybody know anyone around Regina who makes cusions for benches?
-
I got my cushions at Globe Fabrics on Park st. My wife sewed them up with some Camo fabric and they look good. The foam was pricey but seems to be holding up well. There are two difference types of foam, rigid and soft. i went with rigid for the seats and soft for the backs. My dad did the same thing in his shack with the same results.

I'm sure we've all seen some of the reports of a few of the smaller lakes starting to lock up. Does anybody have any reports for LML?
-
In the distance you can see its locked up to about regina beach. Everything north is wide open.

Thx for any help. PM if u like.
Good luck out there.
Id be willing to share some spots of my own farther north!!

-
Hi everyone, I hear some people are walking on in some locations not sure where. Looking forward to get out there. Has anyone heard anything on ice conditions? Have a Great season to all, have fun and stay safe.

-
We were at the regional park the other day. Consistent ice of 6" very slow. Not 1 flag. A car even had drove out. ???
Anywheres else around there to chase some flags? Thx.
-
Hey, anyone happen to know the thickness at regina beach to grand view?
Thanks.
-
Everybody be really careful out there.

Any ice reports for Sarnia / Wee Too / Alice Beach?
-
8 to 8.5 inches at Collingwood out to about 27 feet of water. Nice relaxing day catching perch and Walleye.
-
Any ice updates around Triple Beach or Etters. hoping to make it out this weekend.

Shacks and trucks on ice at triple t

I wonder if they are in the bay or on the lake?? id like to get out there soon myself.

Shacks and trucks on ice at triple t
That's crazy! I wouldn't think the ice would be thick enough or consistent enough for trucks to venture on the ice. That being said, I've never fished up in that area of LML. I was just thinking it's only 1.5hrs from Saskatoon.
-
Trucks are in the bay. I had a 4 wheeler past the mouth of bay thurs. Fished 26 ft of water. Ice was 6 or 7 inches
-
im fairly new to lml, we didn't get started there last year until fishing was closed in the bay, is that a popular spot for pike on tip ups?
we fished the mouth of the bay 8-10 fow with average luck, and out further into the deeper water for perch and walleye..
-
Was out by regional park today had 11.5 inches of ice didn't get a bite but was enjoyable time peace and quiet until the hunters started shooting lol

Good start to ice fishing Collingwood.
-
Good job. We're currently sitting in 17 ft of water at wee too, with shawno, and not a sniff.
-
Shawno and I spent the day on Wee Too. He managed a Tulibee and a perch. Activity on the camera came in spurts but nothing wanted to commit. 6-7 inches of hard clear ice at Wee Too.
The most notable part of the day was when we felt what could only be described as a wave come through. We literally raised up and down 3 or 4 inches as it passed under us. Looked outside and a decent pressure ridge heaved up to the East of us halfway into the lake.

That must have been weird. I have felt some pretty good bumps. I measured 8 to 8.25 inches of ice at Collingwood but didn't even venture close to the center of the lake. We fished 24 to 27 foot depths max perch were coming in waves on the camera the guys had in the tent. I just had steady action all day sitting out in the wind. The perch were all differentnorth end has with lots of small guys robbing the lures right out of the mouths of the bigger ones. At the North end near the Regional Park there is about 11 inches of ice. Some are driving on there but I like to wait for 12 to 14 inches. Then I will go chase some big Pike.
-
Nice pile of perch and dandy looking walleye, good going anglerbrian and company. @)
I have also felt a few unsettling pressure waves when vehicles have went by me too fast, but, nothing like you guys felt, and saw, jpicks.
That would be freaky for sure.

Heading out to Collingwood on Saturday with a couple buddies for the first trip of the season, a little later than I would have liked! Hoping to get into some of those perch and walleye like anglerbrian!
We usually try to find 25-30' of water and fish for perch/walleye using smaller lures, and always end up toying with a few whitefish on the flasher. Does anyone have experience using tipups at Collingwood while also fishing deeper for perch/walleye? I am not sure if a guy could find shallow enough water to put the tip up out and still be within range of your deeper holes.
Any tips or ice/fishing updates are always appreciated. Tight lines!
-
heading out to triple t on Tuesday. I will post ice conditions, has any one been on the main lake? Safe to take a quad or ok to drive a truck?
Looking for walleye and perch so likely heading to 25 fow ish.. any info would be appreciated for obvious reasons..!
-
If last weekend was any indication, I would stay off with a truck for now. Six or seven inches of Ice at alice / wee too and there was heaves popping during the day while we were out.
-
Went to triple t yesterday. Took the 4 wheeler went past the mouth. 10 inches of ice. Fished 26 ft of water. Heave running north to south out there
-

Sweet fish spoxick!
Congrats!

Was at Collingwood Saturday. I measured 8 inches of ice. There was 8 to 10 trucks on the ice, 1 went by us in our tent and the ice dropped and water was coming out the holes.
I had to go home and change my shorts. :o
We were in 32 feet of water and was slow day. only got 5 perch between the 2 of us.

Won't be long before someone goes through the ice. They have to be crazy driving on the ice already.

We were out in a flip over shack at Collingwood Saturday also, probably a little closer to shore than you were as we were in about 25 feet of water. And one of the trucks drove within 10 feet of my shack and needless to say it was more than a little uncomfortable. Not sure why some people think they have to test the ice by using their half ton. Anyways, fishing was slow for us caught 4 perch and 2 walleye between 3 of us. kept the perch for a snack but the walleye went back home to grow bigger. 10 inches of ice where we were

Me wants Brian's Perchies. Where I gets dem.

anyone renting ice shack around Collingwood area I don't get out much as like to but wood if I had a warm place to go call bob 5542093 can supply firewood

I am from regina and would like to hurry fishing st Collingwood this weekend, just wondering if anyone that's been out there knows for sure if it's safe to walk out and fish from the boat launch to get to 25 to 30 feet of water. Any information on the ice would be appreciated.

As of last Saturday it was safe to walk out to 30' of water. There is parking at the boat launch and some guys drove down into the little slough/bay area north of the boat launch and parking on the ice down there. You should be safe to walk on this weekend and I suspect there will be a few more trucks on the ice at Collingwood even.
Good luck, I don't have much for tips but the smaller PK spoons worked OK for me last weekend.

Anyone using pk spoons or buck rattle spoons with success? do you tip them with minnow or minnow head? also seen the sebile vibrato.. interesting name, great reviews though.. anyone use those?

Any time i use a jigging spoon (mostly BK and buckshot) i typically bait with a chunk of something. If its a minnow, i usually use the front half or 1/3 hooked through the bottom lip to hang vertically. Personally, never had much success hanging them horizontally on the hook or using a full minnow. I also think that the more meat there is for them to chew on, the less chance they bite the hook.
-
;D ;D
yup, what this guy said.
thanks for update
-
The buckshot perch pattern spoon with a partial minnow has been my LML go to..... until last year. For whatever reason, I had more success with the live forage flutter lure in the perch pattern, again with a half minnow.
The more I fish, the surer I am of how little I know.
-
Thanks allot for the info!

I feel your pain, I've always used either a silver and green Swedish Pimple or else a silver and green Deadly Dick, that colour combination seems to work consistently. The last half of last season and the one time I've been out this year it hasn't worked well so now I've been digging into my tackle box for some different lures and haven't found the new flavour of the month yet! But definitely echo what zforste1 said about using a partial minnow; I generally only use the head as I find it stays on the best and still leaves enough hook showing for increased chance of hook ups.
-
OK. Now we're into it.
That silver and green Deadly Dick with a stinger hook is still my favourite for a jaw jacker or dead stick set up. It's just so much fun to tell people what you caught the fish with.
-
I prefer the Lindy rattlin flyers. Although they dropped the largest size 😡 I have a few dozen of the big ones to last me 😔
I find when they are hungry and smacking jigging spoons color rarely matters. But it's always tipped.
And if they don't hit that and won't commit and I'm only fishing 1 hole that comes flying out and down goes a tiny jig and half of a minnow. If they don't hit that on the fall or after a few seconds as far as I'm concerned nothing would have worked.
-
I was at Collingwood on Wednesday fished straight out from the launch in 33ft the ice was 12" . A few people were driving trucks and pulling shacks around. It was my first time there so I played it safe and just walked out. Fished 12-5:30 caught about a dozen perch and afew small walleye.
-
So this was today's catch one of my biggest perch I've caught

Thats a beautfill fish.. do you or anyone else care to share what kind of depth you typically target for walleye in lml?

This crack was not there yesterday Dec 15th 2018 but it showed its ugly head last night still had open water in some spots

how thick is the ice at Collingwood?????
-
12 to 13 inches
-
I have heard from different people that the ice varies greatly in thickness at Collingwood...and that only the "rocket scientists" seemed to be driving on??
-
The ice varies greatly on that lake every year. I've ice fished it many times in places when the lake is still open water in other places on the lake.
I try to never fish over 30 32 feet. The 29.25 came from 15ft. The 30" from last weekend came from 18.5..
-
Can anyone tell me what the ice is like at Regina Beach? Safe?
Thanks.
-
I took the quad out at Collingwood on Sunday. Drove all over and out to over 40 feet of water. Around 12 to 14 inches everywhere I drilled. I may not be a rocket scientist but I think that makes it safe to drive on.
Always check and be on the safe side. Stay safe and good fishing.

Met my daughter from Saskatoon at Last Mountain Lake today. Parked her car at the Regina Beach Turnoff by #11.
Came back at 5pm to find her window broken and her suitcase from the trunk gone. And two pairs of prescription glasses from the front seat. **censored**???
-
Sad to hear. Low life scum types are everywhere. Have seen cars parked there many times, I'm assuming from commuters.
-
Sorry to hear that ProV1X, definitely dont expect that on the side of a busy highway in broad daylight! Hopefully anything of value is recovered and your daughter is still able to enjoy the Christmas season.
-
HAS ANYONE BEEN ON AT TRIPPLE T OR ETTERS?
-
The Regional at the north end has 15 inches of good hard ice if anyone is looking for safe driving spots.
-
The north end has a touch over 15 inches of good ice.
-
Anyone driving on at Regina beach yet?
-
Theyve been driving on at regina beach for about 3 weeks now
-
Thanks! Sounds like it’s time to get out there
-
The north end has a touch over 15 inches of good ice.
How are the heeves up that way?
-
Does anyone know how thick the ice is at Alice Beach? Can I pull my shack (old camper) on yet?
-
Be careful out there, saw a truck went through 20’ off shore at grand view.
-
is that area known for heaves or issues with the ice?
-
anyone driving across yet from sarnia to collingwood
-
I was out at Triple T about 10 days ago and guys are driving on there and out onto the main lake about 150 yards or so - I didn't see anyone driving across the lake in that area. Unfort. Fishing was very slow. I am wondering if anyone knows if people are driving on at Etters yet? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
-
We were out on Boxing Day between Alice/Wee Too and Grandview. Ice was 12-14" where we fished, but there were zero vehicle tracks out there. Saw quads and sleds on the ice but no vehicles. The area we drilled at is all consistent depth, and didn't drill off of any points or royal shoals to test how much less ice was there. Fishing was decent to good all day with around 30 'ish walleye, a couple of whitefish, a nice burbot, and a pike. All in all , a great day on the hardwater!
-
Thanks for the report and walleyed99. Congrats l! That’s a great day on the ice!
-
Wicked heave to cross no way I'd do it
anyone driving across yet from sarnia to collingwood

Was out at Collingwood yesterday and today, caught 1 perch

Any ice thickness or fish reports from the Pelican Pointe area or south end of the lake? Heading out tomorrow but only keep hearing reports from the north end.
Thanks everyone.

I was out at Pelican Pointe last weekend. There is pressure ridge along the sand bar. The pressure ridge I cannot be crossed. You have to go around it. 10.5 inches of ice near it.

Shacks and trucks on ice at triple t
Thanks tips
-
Ice at 14" -15" all around the Regina Beach peer and out a few hundred feet. Lots of shacks of various shapes and sizes. At least a dozen vehicles on the ice at ~1:00pm today.
Ice heave near Solomon's.

spent a few hours at the permy around little Arm bay yesterday with a few buddies. fishing was slow with only a few small perch making it topside in 20 FOW. consistent marks on the flashers throughout the day though, just seemed to be tight lipped. Ice is 16" and access is decent at the beach. Could see a large heave 300 hundred yards or so north of us towards pelican running east/west.
-
Was thinking about heading out to Rowan’s... any reports on the ice thickness and whether they are biting there?

Regina Beach and Rowan's are separated by 30KM of lake with completely different structures/accesses at each location. its a fair question bud.
-
I agree with you
, I sent the "??" a little early, I couldn't see a have in the photo -- I meant to include that in the message my mistake. was just curious.
also on that topic..
ive asked a few times and plan to report back, but am curious to see what this big temp change does for ice heaves if anything? im wanting to quad on at triple t or etters.. any info would be awesome, doesn't sound like many guys have been up that way..
-
Fished the east side of the lake across from etters. 15-16 inches of ice. Lots of shacks and trucks on the ice just south of etters.
-
Thank you for the update. I appreciate it
Does anyone know if there is parking at etters if i wanted to unload an atv to tour the ice
Also are there any areas to avoid on the north end like there is in the south ie pelican , regina beach

There is a parking lot at the boat launch.

Really wishing I didn't have to work tomorrow, +4 degrees would make for a hell of a fish fry on the ice with some buds! Went out early Tuesday morning hoping to get into the walleye bite with the weather warming up quite a few degrees but no luck. Caught up with zforste1 once he finally hauled his hung-over ass out of bed and managed to snag a few small perch. Very slow day but lots of marks, just couldn't seem to get much to commit.
-
Has anyone drove from Sarnia across the lake to Collingwood yet or any tracks?
-
Went on at Sarnia today. 20" thickness, good black ice. Limited out on walleye within 2 hrs and now its catch and release except for all the jumbo perch I got into now. Staying in the shack overnight. Will be up nice and early for the morning fish.
-
how was the overnight stay?? Lots of noise on the lake?!
-
how was the overnight stay?? Lots of noise on the lake?!
Woke up once to some pretty loud cracking sounds and booms the ice makes! Was a good night. Caught a bunch of perch this am.
-
Can anyone give me info on the sarni access where i can get on, does a guy just follow the grid road to the beach/launch?? Can you fish for walleye close to the access? Anything for heaves or springs i need to worry about?
-
hows the fishing been at regina beach area
-
Was slow at Collingwood last weekend so I’m gonna try the Regina Beach area Saturday.
-
three of us at regina beach from 10 to 5 and no fish but nice day
-
I gotta ask, laugh if you may..
I pulled onto tripple t beach, while driving through the bay i noticed interesting ice conditions..
Some of it very cloudy, some areas almost looking like blocks of ice or puzzle pieces frozen into the ice
Any ideas or explanation
-
Cloudy ice is usually slushy water that froze and during first ice it best to avoid those ares since its weaker. The blocky/puzzle ice is black ice that broke up during the wind and waves and re froze before melting, that ice is generally pretty strong lke typical black ice.
-
Anyone have any advice about fishing for pike up at the Regional? Any areas to avoid on the ice? places to shoot for or depths to fish? Any help would be appreciated! Heading out with my brother and some of his pals from Saskatoon and I don't know the lake that well. Mostly worried about the spots to avoid.
Cheers!
-
Hi danhanline.
On the E side of the lake, just up from where you enter onto the ice, there is a flowing spring that is to be avoided.
It is usually quite visible, as the snow is sunken away by the shore.
If moving up or down the lake I would say towards the middle until you get by it a ways.
I have seen angler parked, and fishing close to it, but, I prefer to fish in an area with more stable ice thickness.
Normally folks fish a bit N from the Regional park.
That area is a bit shallow with max depth at 10 -12 feet and 7 - 8 feet is usually a good starting depth.
Good ice fishin'.

Any action in the Regina Beach area today? Trying to decide where to go.
-
fished Collingwood last sunday in the beautiful sunshine and NO wind for a change. marked tons of fish, fairly aggressive as well as they followed it up and down all day.
tried several hooks and different bait senarios but nothing seemed to make them bite. 3 of us caught a few perch and a few really small baby walleyes.
Fun day with great friends and great weather, next time they'll bite.....that's what I keep telling myself anyways, lol!! Tight lines everyone.
Ice was good as well, 20" I'm thinking and NO heaves to speak of but we only went about 1/2 mile north of the boat launch.
-
how is the access/heave's at Sarnia? Safe to drive on or far to go ? Any shacks out there?
-
It’s a go.Follow the trail.
-
Is it pretty far drive to get to where guys are fishing or shacks?
I dont know the lake at all
-
Nothin..?! Is anyone fishing lml
-
You know you would learn alot more by getting out and learning some for yourself then from the couch asking questions every other post.

Your right i appologize
I will zip it

Took the wife and father in law out yesterday in the wind and blowing snow to my permy off keddelston beach. fished from 10am - 6PM and had constant perch on the camera and flasher with the odd walleye sprinkled in. We managed to put a dozen or so fish on the ice. We kept 4 perch and 1 walleye. released the rest including a dandy Walleye my buddy caught a few minutes after he showed up to fish with us. They were very tight lipped and very lite biting. I threw the tackle box at them but nothing proved consistent. I am blaming the unstable weather for their lack of appetite. Ice was 20" thick and the boat launch access was excellent.
The slow day of fishing was made better by plenty of snacks throughout the day and some fresh deer steak and bush's beans for lunch....and maybe a nip or two from the cherry whiskey flask ;)
-
Took my wife out fishing this weekend. She was looking to catch a bigger fish than me. Unfortunately we only caught one, and she was a beauty. Released for the next fisherman.

Due to the cold and winds we had to pick one spot and stick with it, not much activity where we were.
-
Great fish Whytie! Glad some of you have been getting out and putting the time in, very jealous! Hopefully I'll get out in the next week or two for a day.
-
betcha that wind is blowing down that lake today not good for setting up popup
-
I can attest to that
Terrible day..! Used a double insulated pop up,
Im assuming the bp and just ugly weather and wind played a roll in a terrible fishing day, not to mention a strugle with equipment..!
Went on at sarnia and went south,
I didnt notice when we went on, maybe it showed up today maybe before but there is a large preasure ridge in front of sarnia maybe 300 yards, it appears to start in the center of the lake and run north north west, pretty large anyway
-
Fished just south of Swanson’s point yesterday amongst some permanent shacks. It was blowing hard all day only managed to catch one 2lb Walleye

photos are from the beach area at sarnia.. they aren't very good. Has anyone been out in that area recently, im just curious if the temp change and heavy winds did or even can play a role in a pressure ridge forming?

Best luck so far this season at both Sarnia and Collingwood has been between 30 and 35 feet.

Hi! Has anyone tried driving on the ice recently at Rowan's Ravine? I work in a lab at the U of R and we are planning to collect water samples there within the next couple of weeks. We haven't sampled in the winter before but our summer sampling point is circled in this picture (coordinates are 50.98886, -105.18483). The water depth at this point is about 18.5 m.
If it's safe we'd ideally like to drive out to this point from the provincial park boat launch with our truck but I wanted to see if anyone on here has done that. I saw some articles from previous years about trucks going through the ice near Rowan's so we want to be cautious... it seems like it happened during the 2015/16 winter though which was more mild.

Thanks!

Anyone else seeing lots of fish but having trouble getting them to commit? Seeing lots of perch on the cam but can't convince them to bite.
-
Its normal this time for perch. It's also time when a camera wins over a sonar. I like to remove the hook of a flashy spoon, replace it with a few inch of low-visibility line and a small J hook, just big enough to match a minnow head, perch eye or likesized minnow piece. Perch will be called in by the spoon. They will look at the offer. If you hide the hook, they will take the offer ever so gently. Hiding the hook inside the bait seems unusual, but that increase bite rate many fold. Just set hook a little harder.
-
Looking to fish the StoneBarn in a week and was wondering the best way to access it? Does a guy go on at Grandview and head north? Or Glen Harbour and head across? Or is there a goat path somewhere closer?
-
Saw a guy pull a shack across lake from Grandview to Glen Harbour with a half ton on Wednesday. Access at Glen Harbour and Mohr's is good. Can't speak for Grandview access. Hope that helps.

how is it traveling around sarnia? any one been out- time for a sled or atv?
-
going on at sarnia is easy, getting off is a little tricky, saw a few people get stuck or hit heads on their roofs
-
thanks- any pressure ridges to be weary of that you can advise on.. likely planning to head south towards the island,
-
There’s a heave in the middle of the lake that runs north south, won’t effect you at all.
-
Thank you- i was thinking of crossing to rowans but that doesnt sound possible now
-
has anyone been between triple T and etters on the west side? ANy pressure ridges in that area to know of??
-
What's the snow levels like on LML?
Are the access spots easy to get on or is it a bit tricky now after that big snow storm? :-\
WW
-
Evan,
I have been told that there are two pressure ridges that are making it hard to get across the lake from Etter's.
-
Wondering how the ridges are at Collingwood? Heading out tomorrow.
-
I haven’t been out since the last snowfall but between triple t and etters there is a very large heave running mostly east/west almost across the whole lake. If you stay close to shore on the west side you can sneak by it. It was drifted up pretty good in spots and that was before the last snowfall so I would imagine now it might be touch and go to drive all over?
-
It sounds like there are more preassure ridges then last year out there
-
North end access is blown in fairly good had to take a good run at it to get off this afternoon hope someone can plow out a road
-
Went on at the Collingwood sub division boat launch it was as pretty good. Put a couple walleye and perch on the ice.
-
Hi hardwater friends, was just wondering if anyone has been fishing Triple T up towards Etters lately. any luck up that way or has it been slow like everywhere else.
Any info would be appreciated, ice/snow conditions as I haven't been that far North this year yet. hoping to get out this weekend but its gonna be a cold one again.
-
A school group was set up for pike in the bay at TTT today. There would have been at least 30 lines down. A mid afternoon report had only one pike caught for the group. They have gone for a number of years in a row at this time, and this was the slowest bite experienced so far.
-
Wow ya that is slow for sure, you'd think with that many lines in the water a few would have been caught. Hopefully they turn on in March when the weather warms up.
-
Is there a trail pounded out at the regional yet or is it still tough to get out?
-
Hopefully they turn on in March when the weather warms up.
... or 'if' the weather warms up!
-
Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park just out from boat launch across from beach. 6 perch, a tullibee and a dog fish.
Wicked cold with the wind, but hard side shack kept all the weather out. About 32 inches of ice... not much length left on the auger with a 12 inch extension.
Best times were 11:30 to about 1:00 and. A bit more action at 2:30 - 3:30. Lots of fish on the camera but not a great bite.
The wind over the last few days seems to have moved some of the snow off the ice and there a some small bare patches that makes drilling a bit easier.
-
anyone know what the boat launch at Collingwood is like getting on is like
-
Has anyone been out to Etters in the last few day? Was wondering if the access to the lake is blown in or not? Should a guy be packing chains this weekend or will a 4x4 be enough? Had heard rumors of it being tough to get on to since last snow fall and winds. Thanks
-
North end boat launch in regional park is the best way to get on the ice
-
Was hoping to get out to Midway area next week. Anyone know if the Burbot are on yet or how access is at Midway?
-
Was hoping to get out to Midway area next week. Anyone know if the Burbot are on yet or how access is at Midway?
Was out there yesterday. No signs of burbot. Only marked 2 fish all day, which I believe were tullibees? fished from 10am -3:30pm. Access is good!
-
Anyone fishing sarni lately?
-
Or tripple t
Heading there tuesdayp
-
Thanks for the report jignjim. Burbot run might be a bit later this year with the long cold snap.
-
Fished Sarnia and south towards the Island on Sunday. We were targeting pike and had several tip ups set up between the 5 of us from depths ranging
12-18ft and it was a slow day. Managed 3 pike and a dogfish. 2 pike were in the 8-9lb range and the burbot was healthy as well at about 7lbs.
Beautiful day but slow fishing. Ice depth was to the crankcase on my eskimo but I didn't need to put on the extension so should be ok for the rest of the season.
Lake is suprisingly good to get around on, the drive on at sarnia has a good trail but it is a bit deep from being blown in and busted open a few times.
No issues for a truck though.
We'll giver another go this weekend and see what happens.
-
sarnia has been absolutely terrible fishing this year. fished it about 10 times this winter lucky if we got more than 1 fish per day per person, and mostly just the odd perch, tulibee, or dink walleye. not a single flag all year, no pike. 1 nice burbot. tried all areas and depths around sarnia, its all slow. dont want to keep going back but its just the most convenient spot for me and my friends to meet.
-
Dooman do you fish north at all up by Whiterock or even North of that some and then south towards the Island?
Your right though it's been a terrible year and not just Sarnia but LML in general and I hear the other lakes haven't faired much better.
If a person didn't love it so much it would be pretty easy to give up if you were basing it on the amount of fish your catching.
keep trying is all we can do. Good luck with the rest of the month.

To early to work on a farmer tan?

Thats about all you are going to get on that lake right now is a tan so might as well. ??? ;D
-
Haven’t been out since Jan ... does a guy need auger extension or still ok without?
How’s island/Sarnia/wee tee north been?
Thanks
-
If you have a 42 inch auger you don't need an extension but it's close.
-
Headed to sarnia tomorrow.. any ridges to keep An eye out for?
-
Or tripple t

Hi fellow anglers. So does anybody know what happened to all the fish in LML? Had a pretty good winter and then March went dead.
Haven’t even heard from Mr. angler Brian. How have you been doing buddy?
L.S.
-
I agree Lip Stretcher. fished Whiterock (north of sarnia) all the way south to the Island, south of Island then on down to Wee-Too and Alice beach on Saturday & Sunday.
3 of us and both days not a fish landed. Had one tip up go off but lost em, my buddy had 1 bite on Saturday. Not sure what's going on and with this beautiful weather :'(hardly a soul out there. Tells me people are as fed up with trying as we are. Lake is good to get around, the shore lines will be the issue with this warm weather this week.
Good luck is all i can say.
-
Hey Foozie,
I went out yesterday drilled lots of holes marked a couple no bites. Drilled all over from Island View to Rowan’s.
I guess that’s fishing LOL. Take the good with the bad and keep trying. Going out again today may be going farther north who knows where I’ll end up.
Keep your lines tight and good luck.

About time! Set a 40inch goal years ago wasn't sure I'd break it this year but the streak continues! 41" Some pics And a quick release

Nicely done spoxick, do you mind me asking where you drove on and what was the shore line like??
That's what scares me is the driving on and off, the lake itself will still be fine.
AnY info is much appreciated.
-
Beauty fish. Nice release. ;D
-
Is it still safe to drive on even with these few warm days?
-
Went on at r beach. Couple inches of the top layer ice was a little rotten bunch of guys driving around. Shoreline is getting pretty wet and soft
-
Nice day on the west side of the lake. The pike were cruising in 3 - 4 feet of water and hitting tip ups as well as various spoons being jigged. Decent access at Etter's and surprisingly few folks out fishing. We iced a half dozen pike between 5 and 12 lbs, and one burbot.
Kudos to the dedicated perch fisherman who navigated his way over two pressure ridges to get to the far side of the lake. I hope you were rewarded with a good bite.

Jpicks and I were out yesterday and we were surprised to see virtually no one out on the lake. Fishing was slow around the PP area. We ended up landing a couple of pike in the 6-8lb range and one 14" perch. All went back to swim another day. The ice was starting to get thin in places...would go from 30" to 18" in a matter of a 100ft, so be careful if you drive on. This will be the last time we are out this season.
-
Way to go spoxick, dandy big pike. ;D
Nice going speckspotter as well. @)
Good to hear you found some fish shawno & Jpicks. :)
I am surprised that you guys found no burbot at Pelican Ponte'. :o
I wonder what is up with the burbot this year?
Did any one get into any decent numbers of burbot this year at LML? ???
I tried LML in the Rowan's Ravine area, a few times in March, but, only iced 1 burbot.
I seen some on the came each time out, but, not as many as in past years.
The ones I did see were on a mission of their own and barely gave my lures or baits a 2nd glance.
I did ice some decent pike and a bonus whitefish though, so all was not lost.
Full fishin' reports for my season to come in a bit. ;)
WW
-
Yeah not a one WW...
We were shocked too. Must be the timing this year with the coldsnap in Feb. I'm guessing the spawn hasn't happened yet. There is open water on the point, so be careful if you head out there.
-
Hoping to get in a Last Mountain trip before the 31st. Hopefully the Burbs show up. Any word on access at Midway?
-
Followed up my 41in from Thursday with this healthy 38" and even got 3 suprise whitefish in 10 min while pounding sand with a 3 inch spoon and a chunk of smelt for the burbs! I've only had 2 whites before today. The burbs still seem behind. Got 4 today all still full of eggs and Milt. The ice is rotten pretty much all the way through on Lml. Comes out like broken tempered glass and cuts like butter with water most of the depth through. Some quads driving around still. Check out my page and give it a follow if you like. I had a great day walking out at Pelican Point yesterday afternoon staying until one of our treasured sunset, which we should all try not to take for granted. Although I wasn’t gifted with catching my targeted fish, a burbot, I came across one that was unfortunately caught and left to perish on the ice. Why would anyone do this? Burbot is a delicious fish. It provides a balance to our delicate lakes. A true fisher realizes this and will hopefully do what they can to avoid these situations.
-
That's a sad sight. Just ignorant
-
It's still not right. But we've come a long way since I was a kid the piles of burbs and Cisco's that used to be left on the ice.
-
The butbot chew was on in full force 3-4 weeks ago. 30+ In an afternoon. You boys missed out
-
Hit em hard for about a week and then they slowed right down. Good luck to everyone out there today
-
Here’s a summary of our last 4 weeks of the spring pike bite. All but the two small ones went back to swim another day.

Hi all,
Just checking to see if anyone usually keeps track of when the ice has melted on Last Mountain? I work in a lab at the UofR and I'm hoping to sample the lake as soon as it's possible to get out with a boat, guessing that will be about mid to late April? I'm planning to use the Rowan's Ravine boat launch.
Thanks!
