Iced my first fish of the season today!
« on: Nov 16, 2009, 06:07 PM »
I found 4 inches of ice today on a nearby pond so I fished for a half hour before work and caught one rainbow. Can't wait for the ice to start getting thicker. Good luck to everyone this year. Also I drove by Granite Reservoir and there is already a thin layer on the narrow part of the lake.

Sunshine has a thin layer as well but I bet by turkey day it may be safe, but better check before one wonders out with the warm windy days of the Absorka front

Hopefully old 327trout doesn't actually weigh 327.   ;)

nope, I weigh 180, the 327 is a reference to the chevy 327 engine. I'm a car guy the rest of the year, and during winter on a limited basis. I'm going back tomorrow since I only fished for a half hour yesterday. I'll give you guys a report, the ice probably will be a bit thicker.

I went up to Curt Gowdy today and spent the afternoon fishing the inlet pond at Granite. There is now 5 inches ice near the banks, as you go out it gets a bit thinner. Fishing was good but be cautious if you go there.

I think I said earlier but I was on the Granite Res. Inlet pond, it's the pond across the road from granite. It is connected sometimes but the water is too low right now.
