DeSmet has good ice (finally) -- 12" or so in the bay that I fished last Monday (Jan. 29). That day I saw a few trout caught by others and managed one 15" fish late in the afternoon.
Yesterday (Sunday) ice was a couple inches thicker. I fished noon 'til 4:00 p.m. and nothing, except my baits, showed up on the Vexilar screen. Several other fishermen reported similar results. New snow cover and high pressure may have put them off their feed that day.
