That's funny. I would do the same thing.

;D I have already been toying with gear in the basement. Hope to get out fishing this weekend then put the open water gear away for a month and have a break until the ice shows up. I never thought I would say that lol.

1. New Auger

2. New suit

3. Ice Castle ( I wish)

4. A Wilcraft  ( I wish again)

Oh well, with the economy the way it is, I would just be happy with a new jig pole.

Let us know how it works out.  Either late this year or next year I will be looking for one and it's always good to see how things work for us out on the ice.

Just finished putting the new FishTrap Scout together, then had to load the gear in it to see how everything would fit.

Put the finishing touches on it by adding  one of my Ice Shanty stickers

If I'm lucky, I will only have to walk around it for a couple of months before using it.   >:(

The Vexilar FL20 is new over the summer.  Other than some more jigs and a couple of tip ups, I'm ready.

Don't do much "soft-water" fishing at all, but do listen to the guys that do.  The lake is dynamic and it changes.  Some guys have had good luck this year and some not so good.  I think it is a matter of changing fishing habits, some do and some don't.  Looking forward to an excellent hard-water season.  In the years that I've been fishing through the ice - I've seen some old haunts go stale and new ones come alive; gotta be flexible and willing to try new stuff.

IMHO

definite:
line for jig rods
jig rods to make nice, easy, fast to set up, take down, and more tipdowns
hooks and any terminal tackle i don't have hanging around
some jigs
new/sharpened head for the nills

making - composite sled/flip over shanty that's skinnier than the others that are available. skinnier=easier to drag through lots of snow.

maybe:
tica reel
boots
heater

want but not happening:
underwater camera
ice gator
idi suit
tons of jiggs

Well, I got most of the stuff on my list this weekend.  Thinking of getting one of the new cube type shacks.  Anyone ever use the Eastman Ice Cube?  How does it stand up to the other brands?
