we fished a lake sunday for perch we had minnows waxworms and wigglers they killed the wigglers and do you use a haile. Seems that is what they wanted . The perch are heading to shallow waters look for creeks or springs thats where they will be it because of the warmer water 5-10 fow .

fo rme best for jigging this yr spike on a Diamond jig or a tipped Frostee. otherwise can't bet a dead sticked lake shiner.
-
My first choice is shinners for sure then waxies-mousies-spikes and wigglers. If it's cold out I'll get'm go'n on shinners then switch to a perch eye, caught up to 20 perch on one, they stay on the hook reel good. Some guys say that the Gulp Baits work for them also. Gramp's used those golden rod grubs, he was a stickler for gathering his own bait.

For jigging I use chicken skin instead of spikes and waxworms. Get yourself a chicken from the store and take the skin off from around the neck cut it in to thin strips about the size of a waxworm. It lasts a lot longer than the spikes and waxworms and you do not have to re bait after every fish. Might seem a little strange but trust me it works.

I've heard of this bait before. With the price of bait going up all the time, I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip.

A Haile is a jigging spoon with a dropper chain.

use the smallest jigging rapala you can find in fire tiger pull the head off of a small flat head or buckeye and use the tail section thats what seems to work for me

It's a Hali Jig see: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.fish307.com/ProductImages/catagories/hali/suk25_cat.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php%3Ftopic%3D91708.msg905976%3Btopicseen&usg=__yZJo6iqSuNeTr3mX02pfXWvgYKQ=&h=84&w=110&sz=2&hl=en&start=5&um=1&tbnid=VVAdC4jld0K2_M:&tbnh=65&tbnw=85&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhali%2Bjigging%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX
I used them yesterday and they are the only thing that worked. Tipped with a minnow head I got a limit of perch.

I must stink at it....I have never caught a perch on any of my hali's.....wanna buy em? LOL
-
For me wigglers work the best when perch are patrolling the mucky bottom areas of the lake.
