hey shantiers,

      did a Hl mod this year, I love them but so sick of getting inadvertent flags when hauling them around and poked in the face. So what i did was get a Velcro strip and attach it just above the flag to hold them from popping up ....works great!!!!....used another piece around the spool to hold the hook...hate those tangles too..............

On the Nor'Easter tip-ups they use a screw eye, works pretty good and is a good solid attachment. just bend the flag over and slip the end of the flag in the screw eye. can also be used as a hook holder. Easy mod.
