Champlain Fishing Reports
« on: Jan 23, 2023, 01:26 PM »
We have Champlain ice reports but how about fishing reports...

Fished way up north Saturday. About 10 FOW. Couldn't find many weeds. Had good pike action anyway, iced about 5 or 6 on tip ups with mediumish shiners.

Started fishing at 7:30 but action didn't start until 9:30AM to 12:30PM. Most pike were average size, 20+ inches.
Also caught one huge perch on the tip ups and many drinks jigging.

Main lesson learned: I can sleep in a little for pike fishing, maybe?

Anyone else been out on the big lake?

Fished dillenbeck Sunday 3-5” once you get out towards the channel the ice gets real crappy. There’s a pressure crack forming on the south side of the bay.
Before it got busy we actually caught some decent size Sunny’s and blue gills in 5-7 FOW.
Moved around a lot maybe 8-10 big perch most were dinks.
It was nice to be out finally.
We need an extended cold snap with no wind or snow so the big lake will lock up.
Good luck

Looking ahead it looks like your getting that extended cold snap. I hope so got our annual trip coming up towards the end of Feb.
Hard water Tight lines Flags up. Doesn't get any better than that

I fished opposite Dillenbeck from the North Hero side of the channel yesterday. 500-600 yards out there was at least 6" wherever I drilled. It was dinks all day, scraped together 10 in the 8-9" range that I took for dinner.
