I went up yesterday. walked out maybe 400 yards off of the north end. 6" of ice everywhere we drilled. Caught about 20-30 nice perch all day. No walleye or anything else for that matter. Was my first time out.

Can anyone tell me whether they're running wheelers and snowmobiles on Carmi now? Heading up this morning and would like to know whether or not to bring one.

I was up there yesterday and everyone I saw was still walking. Around 5 inches of good ice, but definitely not super thick.

Well that's just crazy! 5-6" of mostly white ice close to shore. Some areas have a slush layer.  Not sure how thick it is out over the basin.

I haven't been up yet this year but the live cam shows people out there today.  Yesterday there was a shanty not too far from the island.

Yes, they are fishing Carmi. We were there last Saturday. Just don't think I'd be driving my wheeler out there given the ice conditions...but that's just me.

Fished it yesterday during & after the snow squall.
5-7" ice with slush/fluffy/hard pan snow cover.
Perch were slow but steady all day, hit JR's minnows decent on tip up, had several wind flags too.
Jigging was slow but steady roaming schools, 23FOW right off launch. Took home best half dozen 9-10", rest back to grow, nothing too buggy either...
No walters for me...
