Smitty sled (Let’s see some)
« on: Jan 08, 2022, 07:36 PM »
After 5 years of thinking about building one I finally made some time and got it done. While it hasn’t been tested on the lake yet I tossed one of my kids in it today (roughly 70 pounds) and pulled them around the yard with ease. Very excited to give it a go this year.

Had most of the stuff laying around the garage. Spent about 25 bucks at Ace for a few things and the rest was a just a few hours of time.

My Biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

Tight lines and be safe.

Looks good Island Storm, one suggestion, move the rope attachment points to the red blocks of wood on the smitty sled. This will change the pull angle slightly enabling the skis to ride up just a bit higher rather than plowing. This will also ensure that the otter will not slide out of your tie downs. Tight lines, good luck.

Goes together and comes apart in less than a minute, light weight and strong. Easy to store in the truck bed during the season and the garage in the off season.

TIP UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has always confused me, people have been making and using these sleds for a 100 years. Someone named it now it’s called a smitty?

That's how successful marketing works.  Smart!
