6" auger hangs up at point of break through

For Christmas got a clam drill plate and clam 6" auger. Drilled a few holes and the auger hangs up at the point of break through. The blades cut nice untill this point.
Any help on how I can prevent this? or is this the nature of the beast? Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue with my strikemaster lite 2 power auger. I think I read it on walleye central with the solution for mine and that was that the blades were not tight enough and would grab when breaking through. I would check to make sure they are real tight.

glad I read this thread. I have that same problem as well with my older 8" jiffy auger. I'm gonna make sure my blade is nice and tight before heading out today and hopefully it works. Thanks!!

New blades never hurt not home sharpened. My strike master was doing that i used to just sharpen the single bit blsdes. Sheared the clutch off .  Lesson learned blades dont stay sharp forever and clutch kits aint cheap. I now send in my extras evefy spring.
