May I say that with all the negatives the Internet brings with it.Its sights and people like this that make it worth while.

Would this be of any use? I put them into a google map, kinda like the Baitshops map that someone made here a while back. Seemed like it was intended for Navionics users before, but maybe this way would be useful too.

https://www.google.com/maps/d/embed?mid=1W1uNs-ydzkOi3Pa-VNwKZ1-VEv-qSuYx

How exactly are you folks currently using them? Do you somehow check while you are in transit from spot to spot? I can add to it or edit if it seems useful.

That is awesome H2O and very useful, Thank you. I see that you can click on them and get the GPS Coords.

I like to know where they are and I tend to avoid those areas when I am traveling.

FYI - They don't normally become a problem until things start to warm back up a little. That is when they work their way through the ice.

I was thinking it would be handy for those with anrdoid & apple smartphones, maybe they could see them in realtime on the ice as they move via google maps/navigation. Probably could draw a line for pressure cracks too, if given coordinates of where it starts and where it stops.

I have a question for you "seasoned/experienced" Oneida ice fisherman..... do the gas pockets tend to form in the same spots year after year? I notice in this thread some GPS coordinates for gas holes identifed say back in 2015. Would those spots be on concern say this year or now? Or do they need to be located/identified each season...just wondeirng of the value of transposing all of the historical data over the map that was recently created (I think it was an overlay on google maps or something....VERY NICE JOB by the way!!!! I have the Navionics app on my phone, but even following the previous posted "user guidance", I am not seeing them. Thank You in advance for replies that make it safer for us all

I also know on navionics you can make waypoints public. Could be an easy way to mark them that more people might see.

I just go through and mark them on my navionics based on the coordinates so I know they are accurate.

They are in the same locations EVERY year. Gas holes do not move.

I know that its old but this "gas hole" map is excellent. thank you for taking the time to put that together. heading to oneida for first time this weekend and am glad have this, I know its not an exact map and things change with time but its better than having no idea at all. always been a bit worried if you will about this lake because of them. thanks again appreciate it.

I put the coordinates into a map, but more credit goes to those that gathered the info and put it here.
So, if you find any not here post the gps coordinates here, and they will get updated.

Or you could light them on fire like these guys did:

 :( ???
Do the gas pocket need to be released by anglers frequently? And are we to check them only to gauge the size of gas build up?

Thank you for this info.
Making my first trip to the big "O", it is a little bit daunting for a small water fisherman like myself.
Having this available make me feel a little better about venturing out - along with a good spud of course.

I think most people use numbers in this configuration

N 43°11'46"
W 75°43'59"

N 43°11'43"
W 75°44'11"

And this is were they are on the map

Noticed one on Big Bay slightly to the north east of access spot at that culvert    Sorry I don't have the coordinates as I didn't realize what it was until talking with others later.
