Title: Too cold
Post by: tipupman123 on Jan 15, 2022, 08:26 AM
Too dang cold today.  Would love to be out there, but even with the pop up and a little heater -25 wind chills is Too much for me.  Fish would freeze!  Anyone braving it today?

I thought about it and I'm usually the first one to layer up and brave the cold but single digits AND wind just isn't fun unless your in a pop up and that's not my type of fishing. Tomorrow is supposed to be near perfect with almost no wind so I plan to get out early and make the most of it, the weekend won't be a total loss.

Def too cold for me too. But this wind is gonna die down overnight,  fish on in the AM! Should be the calm before the storm with a steady barometer!

The older I get the less I enjoy those conditions.  Wind sucks and you can only get out of it so much. Especially if using traps/ tilts . -10 with zero wind, not a problem though.

I will be 65 this year.
Been ice fishing since i was a kid. I used to fish out in the open chasing flags all day, but now i put out one or two traps and jig with a fishfinder in a frabill flip over shelter. Much more tolerable on a cold day as the black fabric absorbs heat.  Also get a rechargeable hand warmer on amazon. Take care of the details before you head out and it can be enjoyable.

Don't forget...even on picture perfect days, if the fish don't bite it can still suck (somewhat) but still be better than a day at work!
