I just wanted to stop by and say hello to the good people on ice shanty as well as ice friends past and future.
They dropped the water levels early this year (unlike last year when they waited until we had ice to drop the water level). It now appears to be at winter pool. Water temp was at 36 degrees in the middle of Muddy Creek, so if we get some reasonable winter temperatures soon, we should start making ice. Pray for safe ice and I hope to see you guys out there this year.
-
Jaeger80 good to hear from you again sir hope this past year treated you and yours well. I'm sure we'll be hunting for some ice around the same times and places hope to run into you again out there soon! Always appreciate your information!
-
You too brother!
-
howdy J80 how far down is the water? pics? hope to get out soon, north park and marshall lake both skimmed in places as well as arthur .
GOD BLESS YOU all
mo
-
Mo, good to hear from you. I don't have any pics but I'd say she's down about 18"-24". Lots of shoreline showing and the concrete launch platforms are waaayyy out of the water now. Good time to walk around and look for snagged lures...
-
i saw some pics on f b its really down the dam is a mud flat so m c in the back has to be the same years ago it happened its a bear mucking through the thawed out mud.i might take a pic run
GOD BLESS YOU
mo

They definitely did not used to drop it this low...must be under new management. The same management that refuses to let guys fish from the docks. :%$#!:
-
Howdy gentleman . Been a while since I've been on here . I'm retired now , so I can run to the lake pretty much anytime if you guys need updates . Tight lines and hope to see old and new friends

4x4dad, you find the fish and give me a call!
If this wind slows down we might see some good ice being made over the next week.
-
Will do brother 👍
I'm actually holding onto some hope for safe ice by the looks of this week's night temperatures . Figure I'd take a ride to MC Friday or Saturday and check it out .
-
Hey 4x4 nice ta see ya on da thread all good on this end
-
Hey Tony ! Good to hear from ya brother ! Hopefully we can get together on the ice or otherwise 👍
-
Copy dat how's yer daughter and her bunny are they ready for da ice
-
Ehhh , she's 16 now and figured out what boys are all about 😒 Her rabbits are just a chore now . I probably could talk her into going if I wanna listen to that nasty noise kids call music these days 🤢 Got a couple neighbor boys that are interested in trying ice fishing . Good kids , should be interesting 🙂👍
-
Yep I understand jus cherish those memories

Tell her to bring those boys out on the ice and we can decide how tough they are. I remember fishing with my girlfriends dad in high school. She dumped me because I fished to much... her dad and I continued to meet up and fish the lake after.
-
Now that's funny and cool , all at the same time ! I don't care who you are ! LOL !
-
If this rain doesn't kill it and it freezes up tomorrow night, will that help make the ice thicker faster? Just looking for a silver lining...
-
Yeah, that's what I hope is going to happen
-
Looking at the current extended forecast, how likely is it we will have safe ice by next weekend? I have been bed ridden with a flu the past few days and im getting stir crazy to get out in the ice
-
I live about 8 minutes from muddy creek and have a small .25 acre pond at my house. I was able to stand on it today with no cracking or flexing. I'm thinking that is a good sign but I'm sure there are more factors at play with the lake. Either way, this season might just happen after all...
-
Thanks for the update brother 👍
My hope is holding out until we get reports of 4-6 inches of safe ice . This old man is to old to go swimming for fishies . 🤣
But the forecast of freezing temperatures is definitely promising 🙂👍
-
The lakes rumbling and grumbling as we speak. Stopped by on the way home from work and it was still luckily locked up. Didn’t have any equipment to check anything but a couple days and you should fingers crossed be able to get on somewhere with the pucker factor
-
What's up ducks! My fingers are crossed and my spud bar is ready.
-
My fingers are crossed and it’s looking pretty good. Same fore pyme
-
Hopefully soon
-
There are people fishing already. We will be on by the weekend. There will be multiple lakes fishing by the weekend.
-
Gotta work this weekend but if I hear good things I will be out next week probably with my dogs if safe enough. Hope to see some of you out there.

Hopefully we don't read about anybody in the news 🙏
-
Stopped today at 11:30am
Measured ice at Mt Zion church - three different spots - all measured 2"
Temp 14*
seen no one on Muddy Creek or Shannon
-
More rain coming this afternoon 😒
-
Hopefully doesnt hurt the ice too much. I planned on getting out tomorrow
-
I plan on trying tomorrow . The rain is only lasting a couple hours . Maybe it'll be ok .
-
I plan on trying tomorrow . The rain is only lasting a couple hours . Maybe it'll be ok .
Have the spud two days of above freezing weather plus rain on already thin ice typically isn’t a good combination but with the ice season anymore you never know. Better to play it safe than sorry especially for a panfish or two. The good news is the temps supposed to be dropping after today and hopefully we don’t get too pounded with snow but get the miserable temperatures and windchill expected
-
8-12 inches of snow expected Sunday night in Portersville. Hopefully it's windy Sunday night and some of the snow blows off the lake. Just when you think we're in the clear and a big snowstorm comes along
-
Sounds like this weekend is it . See ya guys out on MC 👍
-
Anyone go out today?
-
I was going to, but im a little hesitant after the last 2 days. I will be going tomorrow morning for sure.
-
Anyone go out today?
Be curious to see how the ice held up. It was raining decently this morning again
-
No better, no worse, today than yesterday.
-
3 to 3.5 of clear at zion. Few fish this am. No keepers
-
Only saw 3 1/2 on Muddy Creek . I'll be waiting for 4+ .

A little thin for my liking as well and top looks a little rotten from the rain. I will probably wait until sunday
-
Wow thanks 4x4 dad those are awesome pics but I'm gonna be there at 4 plus inches... got 13 fishing rods and 13 fishing inline reelscant wait to try them
-
The top is not rotten... It's more like glass...but the wind is stout
-
We need wind Sunday night! Haha
-
Amen brother
-
Hey guys, Does Zion usually have about the same ice as MC, or is it a little less?
-
Just my opinion...but I'd say about the same and usually thinning the closer you go to the middle/bridge. It's snowing here now ..
-
The pictures I posted earlier are from Shannon and Muddy Creek . Shannon was 1 inch thinner at 2 1/4 inches
-
Was out today on MC. 3.5" of solid clear ice. Fished 7am-noon. Very very slow. Dad hooked a decent bass, but I was skunked for the first time in a lot of years. Very unusual for early ice. I could see 9 guys from where I was at and nobody had much action.

Good to see you out there Sean. Same thing today fish at La Jolla Road about 4 inches of good clear rock solid ice. Heard it was the same and Shannon about 4 inches and no fish Managed another decent channel cat that’s it.
-
Muddy creek not La Jolla rd stupid phone

Good to see you too!! Im pretty certain its been very slow for everyone so far. They gotta turn on at some point though. Lol
-
Fishing slow on Shannons,.
A couple of crappy. :(
-
Was in Shannon’s as well this morning. Bite was non-existent.
-
Fished shannon's yesterday and was skunked for the 1st time ice fishing. No one was catching anything. Heard the whole lake has been fishing slow
-
Wasn't slow for me today absolutely cracked the bluegill. Not a single crappie though which was a little disappointing.
-
How many 8- 9 inchers?
-
How many 8- 9 inchers?
Not a ton to be honest, most were in that 6-8 inch range. Lots of 7.5's (which in my eyes is a solid keeper), a few just over 8.
-
Skunked out on Shannon today as well. Only spotted 2 on the vex and neither stayed longer than 5 seconds… back at it next weekend
-
Fished tonight and the fish were extremely negative, but still managed a decent pick of your average LA gill and kept 10 crappie for dinner throwing the rest back into the drink.
For what it’s worth and anyone interested I’ll have more than I need in waxworms hopefully arriving soon. If anyone is interested in some or a tub let me know and we can set something up.
-
I fished Muddy Creek today for 30 minutes (that is all the free time I had). 4" of clear ice. Fish were in a negative mood. Could attract marks in with strong jigging, but no commitments to eat. Was fishing small rattling spoons + plastics.
-
Fished a back cove near McDaniel s. Launch today 10 till2. 4 inches of good ice same response as you all lookers few takers. Hopefully it holds up with this snow. Prefect night temps next week
-
Anyone know how much snow accumulated on the muddy creek to Shannon area? Was hoping those 40mph winds helped
-
Just stopped by the church. Looks like about 4 inches of snow. Two groups out in front of the church not very far off shore and one shanty out by the maples. Looked like a big wet spot about 100 yards out from the church where the ice is pushed down.
-
I guess 4 inches ain't too bad right? Thanks for update!
-
i will be at the dead end road on muddy creek tomorrow . if anyones around stop out and say hi
my buddys going with me . he has never been on ice so its going to be new to him.
hope the snow isnt too much of a problem for us .
-

4 inches on 5 inches of ice is good but bad pull for shanty? hope you get out
GOD BLESS

4 in of snow ain't nothing for me homemade smitty sled ;D
-
Was it around 4 inches of snow everywhere you drug your sled?
-
the snow off of muddy creek was around 8 inches .
-
That sucks. Thought it was 4".
-
1mofish . thanks for the tip . thats where i usually start
got sick out on the ice today? stomach bug i guess ?
the road to the dead end was pretty bad today
my little outback was pushing snow all the way down in
we had around 8 to 10 inches of snow where i was and areas of slush on top
good luck and be safe
-
Looking to head out this weekend some time. Anyone have any catch reports? Was thinking of hitting the main lake point across from the church launch or the railroad bed up Muddy Creek. Stay safe everyone!
-
Hello,
Anyone want to hit an evening shot today?
I am eating a bowel of chili lol and packing in to hit the lake from 4 -?
Let the fish tell me to go home or stay.
Be safe traveling and venturing onto the hard water.
IceSteelie
-
Planning to head out this weekend. Fish don't seem like they are on fire, but winter has me itching to get back on the hard water. Good luck and stay safe.
-
Anybody been back the road to the 528 upper (canoe/kayak) launch? I am hoping some of it melted and not all got packed down. If it’s the later it will be a nightmare with ice (always is)
-
That may be, but the packed down snow actually fills in the 10 million gaping potholes on that road and actually makes it smoother!
-
Potholes are least of my concern.
Sliding off the tight side road park spots into a tree is little bigger damage, lol.
Seen people do it before and almost did the same last after the ice melted and refrozen after a warm day.
-
You are not wrong...
-
but are the fish bitting
-
but are the fish bitting
Somewhere out there is a fish that’s hungry. We just need to figure out where, at what depth, what time of the day or night and what it is hungry for... simple as that.
-
I went to upper 5 28 launch today and it definitely was treacherous if you don't have 4X4 and good winter tires dont recommend. Fished tip UPS everywhere for 5 hours without a single flag
-
Fished out from Moraine Cabins today. Ice was covered with partially frozen slush but 5 inches or little less of nice ice underneath. Not much caught. 2 perch, one bluegill. Lots of lookers on the sonar but few takers.
-
How's the ice at upper 528? 6 inches clear yet?
-
Just saw a western PA hard water tournament Saturday (1-22) Last year after it, fishing went from hot to non existent in Muddy and Shannon.
Which they’d limit it to under 50 people or spread it out so it doesn’t ruin an area.
Oh well guess I know where not to go on Saturday.
-
Upper 528 had some soggy spots with 3-4inches of slush/water on top the first 30 feet of the launch ramp. Soggy spots were 4 inches of mostly clear ice under the slush and snow covered areas further out were 4.5-5 inches of Mostly black/clear . I did find a spot 15 or so yards out from the ramp that was only 3inches so be careful. The road going back to upper 528 was prettt rough and down near the ramp is bad If you dont have 4x4 with good tires you could get stuck down there. A few trucks started to drive down and decided to reverse all the way back to the main road.
-
I bet even with the sub zero Temps. These next 2 nights and the ice will still be 4 inches thick hahaha
-
The ice was 5 inches at Goddard state park right before the snow arrived...hoping to go there this weekend again..this way,,we can stay clear of the tournament. The lake however,..talked like I've never heard..extremely noisy...I'll be curious as to how much snow is on the lake now.
-
With the tourney on Sat filling up Shannon and MC, does anyone know of other good places to get on 4"+ ice? I been telling the kids I would take them out on Sunday. But never been outside the tourney area. Thanks In Advanced.
-
Porters cove might be safe, not 100% sure though
-
i had my subaru down there tuesday . it was sketchy at best and im glad i didnt get stuck .
528 dead end road. not a single bite
-

I saw a few guys out there last Friday. They were smart. They parked at the upper 528 launch and walked out to that area your talking about. Im pretty sure your talking about the launching area at the end of Barkley rd where the old bridge stones are. It's very dangerous to access the lake there. Beavers are all through there and the ice where they swim in the channel is always super thin. I went through there years ago. Lake had 7" everywhere, but I found a spot that was 1" thick over 4 foot of water about 20 feet of shore. It's been like that year after year.
-
I have also went in there you have to stay away from the beaver

Fish hunter is 100% correct. I'm not saying it's not possible, but it is dangerous.
-
fished Dutch Hollow this morning.. 15 tip-ups and not a single flag. not sure where to go tomorrow morn.
-
Another lake. Haha. Things haven’t changed much for some. Saw 40 tipups last week in Shannon. 5 flags no fish. I’m not giving up. Has to get better.
-
3 days after a full moon . tuesday should be better?

3 days after a full moon . tuesday should be better?
also a sasquachuwan screamer and a quebec clipper coming through in the next couple days bringing mo sno and cold to our area >:(

With the pressure dropping,..hopefully the fish will bite soon... :'(.
-
Fished today on the 422 side of Nealy Point to avoid the masses in the tournament. About 4 inches of clear ice with 3.5 inches of white ice. Lots of lookers but only a small handful of takers, all small perch aside from one bluegill. Nobody else out on that section of lake. If you are going to go out that way, tread lightly and have a spud bar. Ice directly off the point looked totally clear as if it wasn't frozen during the snow storm.
-
fished north shore this morning.. no flags.. no fish.. pulled the starter rope out of my auger.. snowed like hell.
-
Fished LA yesterday evening and this morning. The evening bite was tough and had to work the fish for a nibble but brought some topside that all went back. This morning had a hot and heavy 40 minute bite window before the snow hit and then it stopped just as quick as it started.
-
Fished Porters cove yesterday. 40+ tip ups. No flags. 7 inches of ice. Road to the boat launch was icy.
-
The ice should be thick enough for the deep water...but with all the snow we have been getting,..it will be tough pulling ,..but a little easier with a smitty sled...I'm thinking deep water ,..better oxygen..hopefully better action.
-
Has anyone been out to the island between the cabins and dam. If so any ice thickness reports
-
We have only had ice for a short time there's still plenty of O2 and fish shallow 15 FOW or less. I've struggled more so far this season in deeper water than shallow that is for sure and on a verity of lakes.
-
Anybody been to 528 launch or Zion? Thinking about going out later but not sure how bad the lots are.
I know with my tires I don’t want to drive down to the 528 launch if it isn’t plowed or a sheet of ice.
-
I went out to the church last week after the big snow storm and their lot wasn't bad but I haven't been out since
-
The warm day after the big snow turned most of the roads to ice . Be careful .
-
The warm day after the big snow turned most of the roads to ice . Be careful .
26 degrees is warm? You must be from the upper Midwest, lol!
No, I get it with sun melting the top layer of snow and refreshing along with all the other junk from previous storms and compaction.
Zion is pretty decent usually as it pretty flat as long you don’t go down that side launch road.
-
Was at the church Sunday road and lot were good. When I got there. Terrible when I left. The bite was good630 till830. am. Then just shut off. Only jigging the tip up guys were very slow only saw one flag up in Shannon. Lot's of tents on crappie point
-
Checked out Neeley Point tonight...it was not safe - I walked out maybe 20 feet. Ice was not too thick and there were wet spots. Someone else had done the same before me.
-

Roger That! I was going to head out there tomorrow but it’s sketchy sometimes. Saved me a little trip and some time to fish. Thanks jaeger80.
-
You bet brother

I fished over there Saturday morning. The ice at the access point was not good, but I walked along the trail and dropped over the bank. Ice was good enough to fish on that side. A bit of a hike to get back up from there but it's possible with a sled. I only went about 50ish feet away from shore. 4 inches of clear ice with 3 inches or so of white ice. Far from ideal but fishable. That being said, I do not recommend anyone unfamiliar with the lake or ice fishing in general try going out in that area at this time.
-
Thinking about going out tomorrow night right off the church launch. Anyone else going out tomorrow night? How's the crappie bite been in the evening?
-
Fished the lake for the first time ever Monday and Tuesday.Monday drilled a lot of holes and caught some bluegills.Tuesday drilled some holes and found some brush piles out from the church and caught some really nice crappy.
-
Going up Sat. First time ever fishing here.i want to fish main lake in between that beach and boatramp, near 422. Anyone know if it's safe?
-
Last I heard , main lake is sketchy .
-
-10 here in Slippery Rock right now. Hopefully, that will tighten up the wet areas near the main lake and thicken it up a bit. If anyone checks it out soon, please report back...
-
Got down to -13 here in Butler county last night. Would love to have heard how much noise the ice was making last night
-
going to be by the cabins saturday the 29th this will be my first time ice fishing with friends anyone know what the ice is like there?
-
The area by the cabins in front of the island had good ice there at the point.
-
Best thing,..drill and check your ice,..keep a buddy with you..I'm sure You'll find a good area...
-
Made it out on Shannon's last night. Once again, many lookers but only a handful of takers. Most activity was from about 7:30 to 9 PM. Small gills and crappie. Definitely was cold. Truck said -1 when I got back around 10

I was out on the lake today at the bear run launch found the ice to be inconsistent. Ranged mostly from 3-5, found what seemed to be good black ice until I drilled it.
-
Anyone heading out tomorrow night ??
-
I was out on the lake today at the bear run launch found the ice to be inconsistent. Ranged mostly from 3-5, found what seemed to be good black ice until I drilled it.
Thank you sir... I was just wondering about that. It seems the midlake area is having troubles this year. Best to tread carefully...
-
Thanks so much boys. I appreciate the main lake and other spot updates! Seems so wild to me when Shannon has what 8" and others areas are 3"-5". As a guy that has very little time but still wants to go out with my little ones, I hate to spend valuable time bouncing all over. Kids will only keep attention, dry, and warm for so long.
-
Main lake gets the most wind so it has more difficulty freezing than the bays. I was there yesterday and still encountered slush on the ice and wet areas. The eastern side of Neeleys had variable ice thicknesses the closer you got to the wet areas.
-
Anyone heading out tomorrow night ??
I am going tonight...
-
Looking to buy minnows for tonight, saw odonnells is closed today, anywhere else I can try???
-
Sadly that's the closest. Ive heard there's a place in Zelie
-
Minnow trap in a stream ?
-
Take a chisel, my stream is frozen over!
-
Looking to buy minnows for tonight, saw odonnells is closed today, anywhere else I can try???
Not sure if I am too late seeing this, or where you're coming from, but Steiner's Outdoors and More in East Brady usually has live bait. They are about 35 minutes Northeast of Arthur
-
I'm in Pittsburgh, north park bait shop still closed and Neville Island doesn't have Minnie's yet. Might have to find a good hole in a stream and throw in the minnow trap
-
Looking to buy minnows for tonight, saw odonnells is closed today, anywhere else I can try???
Will's on rt 68 just out of Zelienople. 2047 Rt 68 Zelienople. 724-452-8002
-
You can also get bait at Reddi bait in Bridgewater. They have BIG healthy shiners, fatheads, wax worms, maggots…. You can get on 68 right there and take it till you get to 79 at Zelie, or take 19 the rest of the way to Arthur. I know the bait shops are at the mercy of their suppliers for size of their bait, but I will say that I paid almost $4 less per dozen for these big shiners than I paid for the big ones last year at a bait shop much closer to Arthur. Just sayin…
-
May want to call Wills Sport Shop before going. It’s been a couple weeks since I drove by there but wasn’t open. May have just been away that day.
-
My reply is a little late, but Odonnells is closed on Mondays and closes early on Tuesdays. Hope that helps for next time.
-
Any word on the condition of the ice after all the rain?
-
I'm sure the ice is fine. There was plenty. The drag on the other hand is not going to be fun in the near future. That said, without eyes on, I'm sure the midlake is sketchy again.
-
Anyone heading to the lake today or already there? Planned on taking my retired parents out and was just curious of the edges/ice around the church
-
Ice was 7-8in out of mcdaniels and watts bay drag was brutal if you didn’t have a path fishing was slow
-

North park bait is closed until March. Island firearms has minnows. I just came from there, theyre open until 5pm tonight
-
if anyones interested i will be fishing lake arthur muddy creek dead end road tuesday around 7 am
dont know if my buddys will be around or not and dont like going out on the ice alone .
silver subaru outback red / black icefishing gear .
stop by and say hi
-
Out by church. Spotting fish, nothing biting. 4 inches of frozen slush onto. Bout 9 inches clear I'd say
-
Fished from McDaniels today. 20FOW, many lookers, fair amount of takers. Mostly bluegills, few perch and one crappie. Drag wasn't bad at all. I'd guess around 10 or 12 inches of ice total.
-
Test
-
any current ice conditions on muddy creek?
-
I'd imaging 9+ clear ice with 3-4 inches of frozen slush on top. That's about what it was in Shannon's and near church
-
thank you mknott . i fished the dead end road on muddy creek today . got there around 7 and left around 11:30
ice was firm again everything was frozen and solid. ice was around 10 inches .
fishing was slow caught 4 gills 1real nice one and a dink perch.
had 4 flags go off     3 with fatheads and 1 shiner . but no fish? probably small perch ?
wind was strong and just a little snow . there was no one at all in the muddy creek area of the lake. one hub across from church
that i could see. some people showed up as i was leaving .
all in all it was a pleasure to be out and even catch a couple .
have fun and be safe
-
sounds good. Only caught 1 gill, 1 tiny crappie and a perch sunday night. Can't seem to find the crappie this year
-
that seems to be the case everywhere, lots of dinks

Been fishing pretty consistently weekly with a pile of dinks and few keeper crappies. Have also been pulling some decent perch as of late most females filled with eggs. All of which have been thrown back to be caught again. Forecasted future Weathers looking like the fat lady has started to sing her song
-
That perch is bigger than most that I have seen in Erie so far.

Fished out from McDaniels last night. Moved around several depths, marked very few fish and caught one. No shortage of wind or water. Edge at the ramp was starting to get soft when I came off around 10. Use caution when you're on the ice. The weather this week doesn't look too great for the ice. Stay safe everyone

Advise needed!
Hoping to go to McDaniel's area once more. Options are tomorrow evening (Wednesday 16th). Or wait until Sunday 20th.
I guess the concern is will shores hold strong through upcoming Wed/Thurs heat and rain?
-
Just my 2 pennies worth here: I took tomorrow afternoon off to go one last time. After that, I’m putting everything away til next year. It isn’t worth it to me. The warm temps don’t concern me as much as 3/4” of rain Thursday does.
-
I was standing on 12 inches of ice today just saying
-
I agree,..the nights are still below freezing,..some shore may go away,..depending on different areas and run off..
Conneaut had 13" today.. while I was fishing today..
-
Today is Wednesday then it is back into the low 20's Thursdays into Friday then into the teens for Saturday. Then back up and back down in a few days. We'll have ice for a little while. We are at that time of the year where it is shot lived and you'll have to pay attention to it. If it is not right for you that is okay too.

I fished last night until 8Pm. There were areas with enough water on top that the jet sled floated as I walked. When I left the shore lines were still good. We got and are getting a pile of rain now that we did not have then. The cracks were starting to open up a bit. Last night there was still plenty of good ice. The shore lines are gong to get tricky.
-
I posted this in the conditions page. In case you do not check both here you go if you do save yourself some time and skip this post.
I fished last night until 7PM. The ice was different from last night. Large volumes of water on top looking for any place to go. The shore ice was different from the time I got on until the time I pulled off. The lake is/was rising and the shore ice is pulling away. As I came up to boat ramp there was a LARGE volume of water running into the lake. It rained harder for a greater period of time after I left than while I was there. The local creeks are RAGING over the banks.
I fished the main lake, 20-25 FOW. There was 6" off good clear ice when I left. I had a buddy out there most of the day he cover a good area running and gunning drilling holes searching. The ice was the same all over. There were some cracks that were separating for sure. There were some areas with air buddle in the ice that the water melted through and was just starting to make those areas look like swiss cheese. There were holes in the ice in area as large as a steering wheel on your truck. There were a few holes larger than that. When I left it was so foggy you could only see a few feet so I split. Again there was a solid 6" of clear ice but you had to watch. This was on the main body of the lake I did not check bays/coves.
It is snowing now and we got this cold snap. Areas are going to skim over and turn gray, have snow mixed in and be difficult to see. Lake still has to be coming up. Shore line, water levels, holes opening etc. changed pretty decent amount from the time I was there to the time I left.
If anyone finds a small container with #5 ripping raps possibly a few spro Jr's they are this guys.... Hook a brother up.
-
Thanks snapper
-
I did not fish the days they could have more ice and be in better shape. There was a solid 6" of good clear ice where I was when I left.
-
Fished today in one of the bays. Where I was there was still 10" of ice. Most places I checked, the shore ice is way too weak to walk on. At least 6 ft of weak ice to cross from what I saw. If you fish tomorrow you will def need a plank... Good luck!
-
Insanely windy out there today... Bring a shack if you venture out
-
It certainly is windy. Stopped to check the edges in a few spots. Dead end parking lot on Muddy Creek is almost a no-go. Maybe 6 or 7 feet of water and slush until the ice. 528 boat launch is ok, few feet of slush. Just keep an eye so you don't find yourself stuck. Church road was accessible. 5ish feet of slop, but someone had a board set up. Not sure if they are planning on leaving for everyone. McDaniels was also accessible. Few feet of slush. If you have knee boot or waders you can get right on. Didn't fish myself but there were a handful of people in each area. Be careful when you are out. Weather doesn't look good, especially Tuesday.

Went to Shannon this morning somebody was nice enough too have a board out 6 feet of edge is questionable still 9 inches on lake as of930 this morning.
-
Nice pics Ticktoc!
-
I went out on Monday from Mcdanel's boat launch. The shore was not passable but you could walk out off the dock onto thick ice. You likely need planks now.
The ice was 8 inches thick where I was.
-
I wonder if these cold nights will shore up the edges? Probably not enough
