Prompton dam
« on: Jan 13, 2020, 07:07 AM »
Hi all,

Fished prompton on Saturday for the first time. Used tungsten with waxies and caught plenty of fish, but they were almost all dinks which seemed to be the trend for that day. Used some spoons hoping to weed out the smaller fish but also produced dinks. Fished to right of boat ramp before the narrows. Did not feel like making the trek all the way as people were constantly coming back from there with nothing to show for it. Drilled plenty of holes, but could not find the right size fish. Is this normal for prompton or was it an off day?

They're calling for temps in the 40s tomorrow with around an inch of rain so that's going to hurt it quite a bit.  Prompton is in the bottom of a deep hole and the rain runs down the mountain sides and eats up the ice along the shore.  Between the rain and warm temps tomorrow I think the ice along the shore line is going to be all melted again.

Was up there Saturday night. Drilled a hole on the launch had about 5  inches. Walked out another 2 feet and broke through a crust into a 4-5 inch void. Not sure how thick the ice was under the void, just threw the auger in the truck and drove home

I'm hoping to get to Belmont myself this week. I see you're from Nanticoke as well, I'm by Martys Blue Room. Tight Lines!

Im a half mile away from Martys. Never fished Belmont. Do you fish it alot, and in your opinion is it better than prompton.

I was only on Belmont once. I chocked it up to a bad day but I'm not familiar with the lake. I left there and went to Prompton to catch dink calico for the day. I've seen pictures of impressive eyes from both but havent put the time in to find them on either yet.
