How is the ice conditions at Hell Creek. The marina's webcam has not been working for quite a while now. I have a trip planned on mlk weekend.

Call the Hell Creek Marina. last I heard they were just starting to make ice but that report was from several days ago and they've had below zero weather.

I think the Marina is closed until after the new year. Just what I heard. But the forecast does show lows of single digits for the next week. C'mon baby freeze!

Ya I'm part of a group of guys who have i think 5 cabins reserved for that weekend....we have til friday to cancel so im hoping to have a solid answer (pun intended) on weather the ice is good by thursday. If it's good I might sneak up there on the 17th to get a head start.

they just posted on there site this morning that they have 4" on the bay and 1.5" on the main lake.

Hey hagfan! Got all my gear except for the auger from my shed, she hid it....had to cut a lock in a pre-dawn raid though. Give you a call this week sometime.

Hagfan- have u been up to hell creek quite a bit? I heard the water is low this year. Does that make the fishing better or do you have to get further out of the bay towards the main lake?

I got my gps and topo maps ready for ya Brad. Just called the marina...they made 2" of ice just last night. It is 6 inches right now. We got a room for thursday night too. haha!

do you guys ever have problems getting in and out of there on the road to hell creek? i went in there last fall after some rain and wasn't able to get out when i planned on because the road was so bad. are chains pretty much required to get back there and out in the winter?

If you have a trailer of any sort it is smart to chain up before heading down the hill.

I am planning a trip there MLK weekend as well. I thought about bringing the camper but after hearing about the cabins I think it is the only way to go. I hope to see you all up there.

I usually get there twice a winter and camp on the ice.

If the main lake is not 16" plus in a couple weeks I may just do Devils Lake for five days or so.

Just reserved what I think is the last cabin for MLK weekend. I will be getting there on the 17th and checking out on the 20th. Hope to see you all there.

bdubinmt, I will be in the Clam Six Pack 1550 and may bring my Red Polaris Razor if the ice permits. Can't wait, this is my first trip up there
