Tip ups for crappie
« on: Feb 08, 2013, 06:56 PM »
I was wondering if anyone had tried the rubberband trick on thier tip ups for crappie.  I know guys use them for salmon and lakers where the fish tend to run and drop the bait.  Just a thought i had.

It could work but Tip Ups tend to offer too much resistance for Crappies, Tip Downs work much better.

tips downs work the for me less resistance when the crappie takes the bait free spools off nicely an holds pressure when they stop running wit the bait.

same here,no rubber bands needed.

Just use small or medium shiners. Sometimes tip up is 1 foot off the bottom others it is suspended halfway down the water column.
