Eskimo Auger Blades Resharpening
« on: Oct 06, 2017, 09:12 PM »
I'm sure this was asked 1000 times... well I'm 1001......

I want to get my spare set of Eskimo 10" blades resharpened... I don't want to do it myself with a file..  I prefer to mail out for that near new factory edge finish..

Anybody have any ideas and or recommendations!!!!

I did check Eskimo website but I didn't see anything regarding blade resharpening.....

Thanks.... Dawg.

Not sure if they do this aNY more or not but anglers point mArina use to sharpen auger blades.. here in michigan I would check around maybe even frank sharp nils does them too?? Not sure though .. if you can sharpen stuff usally other stuff gets sharpened to like scissors and knifes.. so look around funny thing is I just bought the curved blade  stones from Lansky sharpeners..  for use with my smith knife sharpener..  going to try this out this year.does seem like it worked bUT will see.. .

CowDawg, if you're looking for some place local to get them sharpened give Scranton Grinder a call, 570-344-2520, they use to sharpen auger blades but I'm not sure if they still do.  They're really easy to get to from I-81: get off the River Street exit, turn left at the end of the ramp, go to the first traffic light, turn right on Meadow Avenue, then make your first left at the bottom of the hill across from NBT bank.

Scranton Grinder is a great shop.
They do all my mower and hedge trimmer blades.
They also do small engine repairs.

Just a FYI update to the local boys here...
I stopped in Scranton Grinder and they still do resharpen ice auger blades.. BUT... they can't machine sharpen a curved auger blade such as the Eskimo blades..
The guy said he can try to hand sharpen them but he can't guarantee the finished ice cutting results...

So, I will pursue the other recommendations given here...

I'd send them to Fish307.com then.  Those guys sharpen blades and are a nice bunch of people to deal with.  Also check the price of replacement bladed, it might be cheaper or just about the same price for new blades as it is to have them sharpened after you figure in the shipping both ways.

Yep Chris, that's where they are going... support the sponsor here. All packed and ready to go, Wifey will take them to the P.O. tomorrow for me.

That's good to hear that you had a good experience with them.  I'm guessing they sent you your actual blades back.  I dealt with them before and that's the level of experience I've come to expect from them.
