That snow-ice and rain line has me a bit worried, if it moves North we could be screwed but if it moves South, which I hope and pray it does, we would be in for a good season. Let's all hope for the latter.

Chris- don't worry about that line! When we get into that pattern of rain/ice along the coast and snow inland, we are usually far enough inland and at higher elevation that we get snow when it is raining in NJ, NYC and Philly. Sometimes it's even snowing here in the poconos when it is raining in Stroudsburg and Allentown.

Very true, I remember going to work in Stroudsburg and about a quarter of the way down mile hill it'd switch from snow to rain. It's good to be a mountain man and living on the top of the mountain.

Hate to say it since it's accurate weather it is probably wrong.. seen sw wind day predicted as east wind days etc.. on accurate weather that's why I use noaa.gov Weather sites .. for my weather forecasts..

so far the noaa is leaning toward a neutral to weak chance for a weak el-nino. The prediction so far is average to below average temps for Pennsylvania and equal chances either way for precipitation. Sounds like it'll be a good winter, I'm just hoping for the lower than average snowfall.

I'm hoping all the stink bugs that showed up at my house the last couple of weeks are an indication of a long and cold winter too. Just wish they were good for bait

I've only had a few of those dang things at my house so far and I hope it stays that way. I went on an early season hunt a few years ago in 5C and they were everywhere. We had to sweep them out of our tents at night and everything stunk. But it was a good winter that year....

Yesterday I saw the geese flying South at my house and it's been a pretty steady stream of them going. Hopefully they know the cold is coming fast and are gettin out while the gettin's good.

You guys are in luck, I'm seeing a bunch of all black wooly bear caterpillars this year.
Which do I trust more, accuweather or wooly bears, that's a tossup!

the legend goes, if there is more brown than black in a banded woolly worm, the milder the winter. Whether it's true or not is not really known and is more an urban myth. The all black woolly worm is another species. Doesn't count

When you start seeing Tundra swans that’s when it’s getting cold up north... honkers are probably local birds

I saw one of those black and brown caterpillars and it was 95% black. This is supposed to mean a cold winter...hoping will be right. Would love to be up at Black Moshannon prior to Christmas.
