Built it and the ice will come.
« on: Feb 24, 2014, 05:18 PM »
As you all know we don't get good ice every year in Kansas but I love to fish it when we do. Last July I bought a new gas powered auger since I have had two shoulder surgeries, I also bought a couple new ice rod/reels. Along with that I decided I needed something to carry it all in, so I built a sled from some used 15/32 plywood. My brother though I was crazy and would never get to use the stuff ::) So far I have drilled about a hundred holes with the Eskimo S33, some being 15" thick. I also bought two more rod and reels for a total of 5ea, I have been using a bottom line fishin buddy and it's sure better than noting but now I should be getting a Marcum LX-5 this week. The sled will be going to the shop for a couple of mods in a few weeks hopeing for good ice next year. Hopefully some day I can go somewhere and get some of them pretty yellow perch ;D So far this year I have caught some decent crappie and a few short walleye :icefish:
Here are some pics of the sled, hope you all like em.

Thanks guys. Looks like we are getting another blast of sub zero weather so round three of hardwater fishin might be on with a chance to try the LX5 for the first time.
