The forecast I am reading today for Mercer County.  It's might be even colder than previous shown forecast. It is saying a low of 19 degrees next Tuesday possibly. I can't Wait!!!!!!!!!!   Hope it works out that way!!!!!!!!

Excellent, maybe we'll be fishing on the ice in mid December, or sooner!

Wow, the temps look even better for Northeast lakes at altitude, like "Lake who must not be Named''. Too bad there will likely be a stiff wind for a couple days with the clipper. Still, at least the glass is half full!

Even better news.  This is from one of the Pro Winter meteorologists from Accuweather.  The ice may just creep right up on us this year pretty quick.  Let's hope we can get some good base going in December because they are expecting a strong Jan thaw.

Long range - "We are going into a 45-day period of very cold weather in the East. I agree with Joe B., that this could be the coldest December in the East in 20 years. It means that winter may start off like gangbusters in the future and me, I will be probably be a basket-case by the new year. As for next week, the models continue to show the storm developing too far out to see, but keep in mind, that the air mass over much of the East will be very cold and anyone living north of the line from Richmond to Louisville to Davenport, Iowa, are fair game to see at least snow showers, if not a couple of periods of light snow as a series of weak disturbances moves through. If only one of those disturbances can dig in and lock off along the coast, than we get the storm. Like I said, so far no model is even showing that right now..."
Bring on the ice!!!!!!!  <br />

I'm at work in Beaver Falls and the snow is coming down and blanketing everything! Weather.com is showing the 10 day forecast for Portersville (that's what i use to check Lake Arthur weather) in the 20's all week with one night at 19!
I want to go restring my rods but I'm fearful that the anticipation and violent, seizure-like tremors will have me trying my thumbs together! :-\

The old adage "Patience is a virtue" was obviously not coined by an ice fisherman waiting for ice!

I'm sill waiting to see what this winter will bring. The old wives tail claims( that if ice in November should bare a duck all there after is sleet and muck). I hope that's not the case but we will have to wait and see. Anyhow how you doing Rat?

Well here in south central (Carlisle area) it is now getting well below (mid to low 20's) freezing at night and not much above in the day.  Colder than I recall at this time the past few years.  Only ice seen so far is in roadside puddles and had over an inch thick sheet in the bed of my truck this am but that's cheatin' and is kinda hard to drill a hole to fish there.

If this keeps up though I expect the local lakes to start glazing over.  I'll be ready right after deer season.  Wouldn't that be nice?

The question is can you sit on a bucket in the middle of a frozen lake and shoot a deer at the same time? Why not have some cake and eat it too. OK ice during deer season now I am confused and crazy :o

Dear ; Confused and crazy in Warrington
I know for a fact you can shoot a deer from 5 gallon bucket, and you can catch fish from a 5 gallon bucket but to shoot a deer from a bucket on a frozen lake would be crazy.  ;D. You must have gone down that dark icefishing road even farther than me , please let me know how to get there.  ::)
