there was 8-10 people on Longsoughtfor  Saturday. Not far out though. Seems the ice should have gain a couple inchs since then. Nab Lake had a few people also, but check as you go don't know how much ice.

Was thinking of checking out L.S.F. The legion hall use to have a tournament there on Presidents weekend. Wonder if they still do?

They have been fishing both but always check the ice as you go out. Good luck.
I'll be manning Toms bait in Rt 40 Westford from noon to 5 tomorrow and they will be open normal hours Saturday and Sunday.

There are bass, perch, pickrel, trout and eel in there that I know of. Maybe sunfish too.

There are yellow and white perch, and brown and rainbow trout. (on rare occasions some "other" stocked fish may be put in when the stock the pond)

I may check it out this weekend.

Fished Long Sought for Pond on Saturday - ice where we were at was a solid 8". Got on at the fisherman's access fished over 10 - 25 feet of water.  As always - check as you go.

Fished there yesterday, walked down from across the legion post on Dunbarton road, and walked out about 75-100 yds to the right.
Ice was pretty much uniform 7-8" clear ice all around.

Managed to jig up a bunch of white perch, a yellow perch and sunfish.

Hopefully the conditions will improve before the derby, but only time will tell.

What are the chances that LSF pond will have sufficient safe ice for their derby this weekend?

I think the chances are very good .  I walked out yesterday and there was 8 to 10 inches of ice.  I only saw one person fishing but the ice was solid all around the lake .

I was checking the weather for the rest of the week, and temps will be in the 40's with some rain on Saturday.

I'll have to check again later, maybe do a trip on Sat to see for myself...

I got out to Baddacook a couple times when we had the deep cold a month ago. Hit it for a Saturday and there was only a shelf of ice going out 200yd from the boat launch, and the next day there was a couple inches of black ice beyond it. We saw some really nice trout cruising but they weren't really eating in the shallow water we could safely fish over.

It's a hit or miss pond... some days the flags keep popping up... most days, it's dead!
Typical trout pond.

The guys who catch a lot of trout use powerbait... which I can't bring myself to use.

I know, I know... if it works, use it... but meh.

Baddacook has nice trout dumped into it every fall and spring... so it's a nice place to troll right after ice out for big browns.

Checked out LSF Pond last night (tried a little night fishing with a submerged LED light set up).

The ice across from the Legion Post on Dunstable Road (derby headquarters) was 6-8" with some frozen slush on top.
The further out you go, the less ice there is, but it should be at least 6" for most of the pond.

My main concern for the derby is the weather over the next 2 days.
With temps in the 40-50 range and some rain possible today/tonight, I am worried about how much might be lost before Sunday?

OH, and I did mark fish on my Showdown, but no bites.

8 inches or more. I just drilled a few in the middle . A bit more near shore. The derby is on!

I was the guy in the flannel jacket with the folding chair.
The ice was uniform pretty much everywhere I checked.

Jigging was very productive, with well over a dozen white perch.

The derby should be a blast!

The derby yesterday was fantastic.
Plenty of people, 7-8" of solid ice all over, and plenty of fish being caught.

Do you know the size of the fish that won the derby? Unfortunately we weren't able to place with the fish we caught so I didn't bother checking the final result. I had a blast jigging yellows and whites though!

I only know the winner of the "other" category...because it was me!
I had a 1.21 lb. catfish.

There were quite a few fish weighed in during the derby.
Definitely a good mix of fish in that pond!

Hit LSF Pond this weekend, both days.

There was 6-8" of ice on Sat and the rain melted much of the surface crap, leaving 5-6" on Sunday.
