Do anyone know the ice situation on Onota
I met the devil an he was in the form of a pike

Was there to check it on Monday and it was wide open water everywhere.  Should be starting to freeze up now.

saw that yesterday! I drove by later and didnt see him, I was half expecting to see ems and fire crews....

Didn't hear anything bout that. There was a rescue in the hoosic river a couple if days ago.  Not a fisherman

I guy I work with saw the dude go through the ice at Pontoosuc on Tuesday. He was drilling in 1" of ice, he and auger went in,  3-4" of water. He got out, went home and got a ladder to put over the hole and went back in to retrieve the auger.
Both Onota and Pontoosuc are tricky early ice as they get deep quick in places.
A few years ago we drilled through 5" of ice in 10 feet of water, when I went to put in a salmon hole in 25" the ice was about 1.5", not good.

Whent to Onota to check the ice were i was it was about 4.5 inch of ice but didnt get to check out the boat ramp area if someone has ice thickness an how far you can go out let me know thanks
