There will be no moving around on that pond via anything but snowmachine and snowshoe if we get whacked again this week. Good Luck Joe - hope you can get it in next saturday

checked it today in the pouring rain. I walked out about 75 yards and had no problem, though some slush around 8". there were some guys fishing about 250 yards further out from where i walked. seemed to be content. i think we will be ok after a few nights of cold temps. saturday's forecast looks okay too, but if it changes to pouring rain, we will be likely to post-pone. After work tomorrow,me and another club member are going over to the nip to check the conditions again and make sure it's still good to go. also , i am bringing my auger and will drill some holes to see what the ice looks like after this rain.
I do believe we can get this in ,all considering. alot of folks stopped by while i was there today to do the same and check things out.
that's it for now and i will post tomorrow with an up-date. thanks, JOE

okay everyone, I have been to the nip and have assesed the conditions and it seems to me the derby will happen on saturday as planned. The ice is in really good shape all around the lake and the rain definatley helped packing down the snow with a couple more cold nights ahead. I walked out quite a ways at the boat ramp and was only ankle deep in crusty snow. all that crap and water from the rainstorm has frozen up pretty good and it shouldn't be too tough of a walk out to your spot. I would only suggest that everyone try and pack thier gear a little lighter than usual to keep the comute out there a little easier. If it was me and i was fishing a tournament, I wouldn't hesitate to much to fish it depending where I was going to fish.
I hope that answers all questions for all. I will all you guys in the morning on saturday. Please remember to always practice saftey and anyone that is using a quad or snowmachine, make sure everything is up to par. E.P.O.officials will be there for this event.
thanks in advance, JOE,TODD,FRED, KEITH,AMY, and co.

Thanks for the update.
quick questions, will anyone be assisting with weight in's? If so, how do we get in touch? Walkie talkie?
Also, how think is the ice, might go hand auger over gas auger, lighten the load.
