Found the clam full of mouse holes today. I'm pissed, just replaced the cover last year. Looks like it's back to the bucket for this season. Maybe I'll build a windbreak. I've got a big
box on ski's that I pulled behind the clam with the snowmobile. A windbreak would be better than just sitting on a bucket. There's time to build, ice won't be here for awhile.

Have you thought about 1 of those beach type shelters?  Some pop up very quickly.

I store my frabill pop over hut suspended from the ceiling in my garage. No issues with them getting into it and chewing up the cover. Worth a shot the next time you replace the cover. That is if you have the space.

I heard dryer sheets deter mice from stored shelters.

How about one of these in the interim...it's what I use. I just moved the bench seat to the back and use one of those folding 3-legged camp chairs in it's place. If you have a decent heater, you'll be plenty warm enough.

beach type shelters?

Yes, as a windbreak. We bought 1 of this brand for the beach(ours was cheaper, prob a smaller model) and I am thinking of using it this winter.

that beach shelter would be fun in a good wind. As far as dryer sheets go, I'm the first to tell someone about them as they do work, but guess what , I didn't put any in the tub when  I stored it for the summer.

I have always used moth balls in my shanty’s . They are stored in my shed which always gets mice but they stay out of shanty’s. I also use them in and under my camper and under the cover of my wheeler. Tried Irish spring soap and dryer sheets a couple years ago but couldn’t do it, ended up tossing balls in,

The smell usually airs out pretty quick.

right now I'm going to patch the clam using a patch kit from clamoutdoors.com, and some glue that someone had mentioned that looks like it should work. I'll get some before and after pics when I'm done.
